I hope I didn't overstep a bit with the queen. My logic is that, even though you can see rather clearly, what you see is still the ritual figure of her. All the stuff she's wearing is meant for the ritual of a knigting ceremony... well, except that she's pregnant. But yeah, maybe I took too many liberties. I also imagine that palace room might not actually be the royal palace but some kind of... summer place, or something, even if it doesn't fit too much with medieval things. Anyway, I used the San Vitale mosaic of Empress Teodora as a base for the queen (And 's design of female prince Einarr too). Again, I hope I didn't go to far, but if I did, it was still one of the most fun parts of the comic...

Last detail: The reason there are manga-ish blobs in the flashback scene are because I couldn't come up any better way to render the fact that Pidra was really feverish and sick (remember the wound she had last time, well that thing infected). As some random trivia, they thought she'd die soon back then. She went on with the knighting because... well, she'd been preparing for that most of her life up to then. If she had to die, she wanted to do it as knight.
Or maybe I'm lying and Pidra is just really in love with the queen .
