Hair Tutorial! (Read Des!) — Description
Soo i'm not only doing this to help me freaking remember my steps but also to help other people with shading hair in an anime style and remember you can always twist these steps everyone has different tastes so feel free to mess around with the opacity, filters and brushes with these steps.
WARNING: this will only work with programs that have layers, sharp pen tool or ways to sharpen ends of lines and filters similar to overlay and color! (Photoshop, medibang, firealpaca, paint-toolsai etc.) This technique works differently with different hair colors so experiment!

Step one: sketch out your hair on your character, outline it then pick the preferred hair color and fill in best you can UNDER the line art.

Step two: (From here on out is where you really need layers and the filters) Make a layer above the filled in area and clip it to the layer below to make it easier and not have to switch between the eraser and brush too much. Make the Layer filter go to overlay and go to pure black and draw lines in the hair on where you think it'll flow.

Step three: On the same layer take your sharp pen (paintool sai users just draw lines normally then use the pressure tool) and draw lines that do not meet in the middle of the lines you made before at the same thickness then you can go in with thinner brush strokes. Once you feel satisfied lower the opacity to *0% or what ever you feel most comfortable with then merge the clipped layer you are working on below. Merging layers helps organize your layer box and this is so you save your progress in a way.

Step Four: This step is the most simple one but can be very easy to forget!Don't forget to add a layer and clip it! If you've saved your color to the pallet tab just click on it and go to the highest saturation or the top right hand corner. You can also use the color picker tool for this, Now you can use the air brush OR the blur tool, my blur tool is glitchy so i use the airbrush. paint this at the very top and bottom of the hair and put the layer on the color filter. Lower the opacity to 55% or what ever fits the hair color. Then same as last time merge the layers together.

Step Five:Add a new layer and clip it! Set the filter to overlay and go back to black. Cover the whole hair in black then go to white and air brush it on or pain it on and use the blue tool. Now go to 15% and merge or what ever opacity you feel is right.

Step Six: make a new layer and leave it on the normal filter. Use the pen this time or if you want to use the air brush. erase some of it into block like highlights and lower the opacity to 25% or lower then merge!

Step Seven (OPTIONAL): This step is completely optional i do this to give the hair a pop of color. You should know the layer drill by now but put the filter on over lay. Go to your base colors most saturated point again, use the airbrush or blur tool and set the opacity to 50% or again what ever your comfortable with then merge!
