One blast... two blasts... three blasts. It wasn’t going down. My father’s shotgun had rarely ever been used, but in the few times it was, namely for hunting, it was a kill—always. This thing just kept coming, not even flinching at the abuse. The purple skin of the creature drenched with a fluid that wasn’t blood, but rather a black ooze that within seconds of being a fluid, would change form into some sort of physical, tangible string of moving parts, like an array of loose hungry wires that turned and twisted restlessly. The smile on the thing remaining ever present, even with half it’s face completely blown away. With the skull being shattered in two, in place snuck a mist that appeared as though space itself had been escaping it’s body. It didn’t take long for the head to completely reform, yet again reminding me that my likelihood of survival was dwindling ever more.
