it instantly transports me to seaside with sea caves and lava rocks.. (not the cliche sand beach). there is a certain beauty to it.
i wud however prefer if u balanced out ur shot in the photograph.. some negative space to let the subject breathe..
but a fab shot nevertheless..

in fact, where i live they're called abalΓ³n (is spanish), but i wasn't sure how it was in english (see my signature)

Ah, I live in California, which was once Spanish-speaking, so probably why the similarity in names. They call it paua in New Zealand (and the shells are very blue).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Phoenix667 In reply to senoritafish [2010-05-31 03:16:09 +0000 UTC]

in fact the color depends, i've seen red ones, green ones, blue ones, rainbows...i work in a souvenir shop in summer and we sell a lot of thing with them

senoritafish In reply to Phoenix667 [2010-06-01 17:20:44 +0000 UTC]

For the abalone I'm familiar with, the color depends on the species, although there is some variation within a species. Most California species are actually named for the color - pinto, red, green, black, and white (the last three are actually endangered species).
