I was going to upload these awhile back, but I forgot.And then I was going through my photos and found them again.
haha, from a couple months back, when I was working in small increments on a painting of my friend Maddie.

I haven't really painted much recently, but I've been dabbling in printmaking. Haha, and I have two large canvases i'm ready to get started on!
You just need to practice, i'm sure you're closer than you think.

Just saw the finished version of this. There are loads of reasons that it's an awesome piece, but for some reason, I really, really like the hair. It's so voluminous and life like, you can almost imagine running your hands through it or something like that. I'm really not sure how people like you manage to detail it so well as to get a feeling for individual strands, yet still make it seem really deep, but wow it's impressive.
On a related note: Digging the red hair.

Part of the reason I wanted to paint my friend Maddie is because of her hair. Just her as a person. She is a very recognizable character, and it didn't take long to get a reference shot because of how strange and spacey she can be, ah ha. Which is what I was going for. An almost unsettling staring straight into you sort of look.
I started out with a really intense meaning, but as I went along, it became more about the painting as a whole, and how I progressed in the layers, and it became more for the process on a personal level.
So this one was just kind of for me.
