Have you thought about doing an interface that allows users to create or edit their own from a default configuration such as this or others?
Where by, they could easily move or place elements were they want? Similar to sidebar widgets, only for the desktop like the ones you make?
Or even create one that will scan a desktop wallpaper image and auto place elements according to contrast? spatial relationships and spacing requirements for each element, to display user requested desktop/tech info.
And possibly even auto adjust element contrast/color settings the compliment or match the current wallpapers look!
Just a few random ideas floating around, thought I'd jot them down!D
