I'm happy that there is someone who likes to discuss such things. I have one more comment, and it concerns the artist, Georges de La Tour. His specialty was candle-lit paintings. Your treatment of this portrait reminds me so much of his work. You may know him, or if not here is a link to one of his classics at the Art Renewal Center website: [link]
Even though the painting is hundreds of years old, the similar magic comes through.

That is absolutely beautiful! I feel that paintings, much like photography, can capture innate characteristics that we as people sometimes try to hide. A lot of times it's our insecurities and vulnerabilities. That definitely comes across in La Tour's work and it's something I try to make sure to capture in my portraits so as to add the much needed dimension.

I can't decide whether her expression is hypnotic or not. Maybe I'll have to check it again tomorrow. Anyway, there are some possible improvements that could be made digitally, but I know you are a film photograper and perhaps would rather not "go there" as it were.
You captured some beautiful, "to die for" skin tones, and the whole thing has an almost magical, candlelight appearance.

After thinking about the expression, I decided that it does look hypnotic, and it is quite memorable. I really like the title. It implies that from this point on there are consequences to viewing this picture. That is a really deep subject, but it applies to all images with meaning and depth.
As for the improvement, there is only one thing. After looking it over carefully with the eye of a painter rather than the eye of a photographer, I think it could be improved by eliminating all or part of the shadow of the nose. It may, in truth, be the result of the light source, but it confuses the viewer's eye, and interrupts the basic message of the picture.
I had thought that it needed brightening, but changed my mind. If you brightened it up, you would lose all the beautiful, rich skin color, which is part of the magic of the photo. Thanks.
