I love many the good characters in LOTR and Silmarillion, none of them died, except Maedhros and Fingolfing.
The good characters that I loved and respected are: Maedhros, Fingolfing, Tom Bombadil, Treebeard, Yavanna, Mandos, Manwe.
The characters that I hated and I seriously, If I can, wanted to kick them in the ass, that they look in a good side, they are : Varda, Feanor, and Eru...yes, just him! Everyone has a reason for me to be hated. Varda because has immediately labeled Melkor as ugly and bad, without never talk to him or ever know him better, so in the fact, she following the mass and the judgment of others valar, without thinking, as if Melkor did not have feelings. Eru, because he has not understood, perhaps, very probably Melkor just wanted him to be proud or happy and accept the diversity of his thought than others valar. Feanor, well, I think this is clear, he is so arrogant and a bad example as a father to his children, not to mention the countless acts of bullying and violence towards Melkor and to his other brothers who did not think like him! Poor Elfs, and poor Fingolfing...
Ah! I forgot, Tulkas... the Hulk in the world of Tolkien! lol xD
Bad characters that I love so much: Eol, Azog, Saruman, Sauron, Maeglin and of course my loving, handsome bastard Melkor.
