Lookie! I've made made a quick Alicorn Twilight.Just like in the finale
I like the charm of sketchy drawings, and would really like to improve on making simple stuff look good.

You're really good at these sketches, I remember telling you the same thing almost one year ago on the AJ picture. And I agree, a well executed sketch can end up looking even more appealing than the finished picture. I think ~Onsaud , *Mickeymonster and *Joey-Darkmeat are artists who have shown great examples of this.
To better ones sketch technique is probably the fastest way of improving ones drawing skills. I'm not very good at it myself because once I start sketching I can't stop drawing until the picture is completed, with background and all. A sketch which was only supposed to take minutes always ends up taking hours.

Yeah, I should probably do more sketches. I too tend to just chug along until the picture is done, and a lot of the mistakes in the sketch shines through...
Yes, all of them have this sketchy feel, yet it looks nice and clean. That's the way I want to be able to draw!

Worry not, while sketching can always be improved you are already well on your way if you keep drawing pictures like this one. For example, I really like style of shading you used.

Lovely. I really like what you did with her mane and tail, that hair is lovely with how you reflect the individual ones. The crosshatching in the ear is just enough shading to work there. Love the feathers and the position of the wings, they make her look irresistible to me together with the pose and the curve of her neck. The darker bit where her right front leg joins the body works well. The shading is subtle yet functional, particularly evident on her legs and the bottom of her head. Just enough to shape her correctly. Finally, the somewhat proud but pleased look her face seems to have to me is great. I particularly love her eyes here; even though the lines could possibly use a bit more thickness, they work well as is. Ah, Twily, I love you so...

Being one who is all to often stuck at tiny details, it's nice to have these moments where I'm actually able to just see past that ^^
