Rydell — Description
This is one of my two characters for a Dungeons and Dragons group I am a part of on Discord. She is a half-orc barbarian with a background as a gladiator. I still need to flesh out her background a little more, but I love her none the less.

Her mother was an Orc that was sold to and lived in the Gladiatorial arena. Her father was a human that entered and stayed within the arena to prove himself and he had nothing to return to. At first, her mother wanted nothing to do with the human, seeing as he was just another victim of the Coliseum. Her father, on the other hand, was interested in the Orc gladiator. He wanted to get to know her but she made it very clear what she thought about him.
As the months continued they entered the arena and her mother was injured to the point that she was just waiting to lose her life, and just when the final blow was coming it was blocked and when she looked the human male she'd viewed as weak was defending the attack.
After that, she wasn't as harsh with him and they would converse until they entered the arena again and she was able to return the favor. This continued and later the two fell in love. Later she became pregnant and Rydell was born months later, her mother died soon after in the arena.
The other gladiators loved spending time with the child, it was rare for babies to be born within the Coliseum and when she was able to wield a sword they started to train her. Rydell's father at this point had become weak from all the injuries that he had sustained over the years, most never receiving proper treatment, and he entered the arena one last time for the warrior's death that he wanted and that had claimed his wife years before.
Now Rydell's only family was the other gladiators within the arena and the Dragonborn mercenary that was hired on as the Coliseum owner's guard. Once she was finally old enough she was released into the arena and from then on she became quite popular, also becoming a true pain towards the Coliseum owner.
When the owner had enough of Rydell causing problems he planned to set up a final match for her that would hopefully end her life. The Dragonborn guard heard of this plan and helped her escape before the match, though at the time she resented him for taking her away from a true chance to prove herself. He brought her to an old Tiefling that had helped him in the past, someone was given the nickname "Grandpa Rags". After spending time with the Tiefling Rydell left, no longer content with just sitting and living a simple life.
