Haha, awesome!
I remember you could pick up an AK in Iraq for around 35 dollars, pre-war of course.
Now they don't want people to arm themselves because they'll bring down the crap government the Americans put in...

Russian-Fox In reply to mido557 [2014-01-17 18:14:01 +0000 UTC]
Indeed. XD
I don't doubt it. They only cost about $20 to make.
And indeed. The first thing any dictator/tyrant/asshole does is disarm the people.

Very true, haha!
Saddam was considered a dictator though...
It's funny since, well, practically every Iraqi owned one, and Saddam went out a lot to see his people, yet no one ever assassinated him.
Kinda tells you a lot about how much the people of a nation love their leader...
Eh, sorry about that, getting nostalgic, haha.

One day I want to pick one of those up. The lack of a dimple on my WASR pisses me off. Of course I may just build a dealer sample out of a Romy G kit now that I can do that.

Russian-Fox In reply to Marsconquers [2013-12-25 05:11:58 +0000 UTC]
Might as well build the dealer sample.
No shit, I was at a gunshow about three weeks ago, and a dealer had a USED
SAR-1, and he wanted $1000 for it. Yeah. A cool grand. x_x

I laughed at one guy in Tulsa wanting $950 for one. Then later on I made the mistake of passing up a $500 Maadi off of an AR guy. I also made the mistake of passing up a milled Noirinco with the butthole stoke for $750. I could have debanned that and filled the hole left by the Type 56 bringback that got stolen.

Oh, the stories of "I should'a got this back when...." that fill the gun world.
I'm still kicking myself for letting a $200 Mauser C96 get away from me. ><
You definitely gotta get these things when you see them. Otherwise you'll
kick yourself for a decade.

At least I got the good Imbel receiver out of that show and I am glad I managed to get my Tiger for $3,000 when I had the chance instead of passing it up and paying more later, or never being able to afford one at all.

I hear ya about the Tiger. The one I own was the first one I ever saw in person,
and it was about 10 years before I ever saw another one. The one I bought was
$1,500. The second one was $4,000.

Oh yeah, I saw another one at Tulsa that was six serial numbers off from mine, how crazy is that?

Russian-Fox In reply to Marsconquers [2013-12-25 06:21:36 +0000 UTC]
That's nothing. I saw a Tiger for sale online that was just two numbers off from mine.
Because of that, I told myself if I ever saw the one numbered either one before or one after mine, I'd
"have" to buy it. On principle. XD

When we get the US Dragunov in production I am getting a "Classic" model with the 24" barrel, receiver with lightening cuts and wood furniture, I plan to have it serial numbered with my birthday. Hahahah.

The M-16 A2 can hit a 11"by 8" paper with all 30 shots at 100m. Cheap mags melting? They're made of a high grade polymer or light weight aluminum.

Its mainly a joke.
I possess all three rifles and I know them inside and out, top to bottom.

Thank god for the Mosin Nagant... I have a standard Mosin Nagant manufactured at the tail end of WWII that was shortened and sporterized and wound up replacing the stock (The one on it was cut down) with another stock left over from my dad giving his a modern composite stock that reduces recoil... wuss *said mostly playfully.* I had to cut that stock down a bit but anyway but it looks way better with the wood stock all the way to the front sights.
I love the thing. She was manufactured in the Izhevsk/Izhmash plant, and for fact I like giving rifles names, I refer to her as "Little Izzy," due to her being shortened as well as simplifying Izhevsk. Kicks like a fricking mule, you gotta man handle her sometimes, but she is a beautiful and sure-sighted weapon... Btw, I have a bit of a love affair with my rifle, though not in am "Al the Killer" kinda way, lol.

I hate sporterised/sporter stocks. It looks too cheap and too generic; like yet another redneck "deer gun".
Nothing really wrong with some modifications to better suit your shooting needs, like shortening the length
of pull or something, but some things are just better left undone.
I like all three of my Mosins (although only one is shown in this picture). I have a basic infantry M91/30,
a 91/30 Sniper, and a real sniper, I know how to check and confirm that it is a legitimate sniper, and an
M38 carbine. The 91/30s kick hard, but the M38 kicks like a howitzer. I one time had my foot on a small
flatbed trailer, which had my other rifles setting on it. Every time I fired the M38, the recoil force sent
shockwaves down my leg and to the trailer, and the vibration caused my other rifles to move about half
an inch or so with each shot.
