If you can find them. I got mine for $200. Although the last one I saw was going for $375.

Actually it's an AR-15, the civilian version of the M16.

I got a Pietta Remington; I bought it from my dad. God, I love that gun...

Is yours an original or reproduction?

The DPMS handles just fine, haven't had a problem with it yet even after a whole year. But then again I only use good quality ammunition with it.

As for home defense...I used to use a shotgun, but then I switched to the carbine instead. More accurate, less projectiles to worry about missing and hitting an unintended target, and less recoil so you can fire more shots if necessary.

Also, random fact. One round of 12 gauge lead ammunition weighs the same as five rounds of 55 gr. .223 Remington.

Nifty! But could use a touch of Glock, IMO...

Actually my own collection is lacking according to some...some people say that everyone should own a 1911 and a SAA-design. You've got the latter covered, but I don't own either of those...

If those sum'bitches in DC (and Raleigh to a lesser extent) would quit trying to ban "evil" guns, I might buy some "not as evil" guns at some point!

You need more. I wish I could get myself to save enough spending money to get an AR rather than spend it on cameras and other, slightly less expensive firearms.

Chinese SKS? Those have been banned from importation since 1989. You've had it that long? Or did you get it in a private sale? It doesn't count as curio&relic eligable due to the amout procduced and the size of the chinese army.

And too add have you contacted your senators about opposing holder? I have. I recccomend not bringing up guns if they are democrats but there are plenty of other good reasons besides just guns. Elian Gonzalez having a gun pointed at his head in a closet comes to mind, especially when he said it didn't happen.

Good points. The Mark Rich fiasco can't exactly help him either...

Well you have until the 21rst to cantact your senators. Both of mine are Republican so I can bring up guns on top of everything else. I even wrote my congressman. Every letter helps. And if he still gets appointed it still shows that were out here.

Actually my Russian Tula didn't have cosmolene and had at least 2 owners before me, maybe more. It's from 1952 so... The last owner mever even used it as he didn't even know how to take it apart. I had to show him. I brought it home expecting a frosted bore but it is perfect. You can actually still see the lands at the very tip of the muzzle which means it wasn't used much.

So far not bad. Only run one box of ammo through it, all FMJs, but so far I haven't had a failure to cycle. Lost a few brass cases though due to the strong ejection.
