Description For my acrylics class we had to fold a piece of Bristol board in to some sort of geometric shape, and I chose and origami fortune teller, also known as a cootie catcher. The shadow is messes up, I know, so there’s no need to point it out.

Cool. It's nice to see some more variation in your media. It seems I started watching you at just the right time to see all of the intereseting developements.

The cootie catcher (a term that I have never heard before.) looks hand folded. I imagine that would be difficult to pull off in paint.

Heh, you did come in just at the right time.

Yes, I folded it myself, it was actually quite huge, and the fortunes inside were rather horrible.

Such things are always best with an element of danger. One day I will start a fortune cookie line. Not only will the fortunes actually be fortunes, but some of them will be horrid. I also expect that some of them will be very complex and specific with tiny print.

Sounds marvelous. But what restaurants would buy them?

Good ones. Probably not chinese restaurants. They seem to like being all identical. I'm thinking I'll try to sell them to mexican resaurants and see what happens.

Hmm…as far as I can tell, the Mexicans are a superstitious people, so I don’t think they’d like such cooks.

Ridiculously expensive fusion restaurants, however, would probably adore them.

Then I shall make the cookies rediculously expensive!

Actually you are completely correct about the fusion resaurants. Living in California I am surrounded by them. It will be fun to produce hundreds of fortunes that sound legitimate, or plesantly amusing, but then include a "look behind you" or a "shut up, dweeb!"

Once my ex-girlfriend got a real fortune cookie that said. "it's not a secret, and it never was." Best fortune ever.

That IS the best fortune ever! I wonder what she thought the secret was...

So do I! She still has the fortune in a drawer, and occasionally shows it to me with a very knowing/regretful expression on her face. I think she finds that funny.

If I had a fortune like that, I'd probably show it to everyone I knew.

Probably asking "What do you think I'm keeping secret? What do you know that I don't know you know?"

I'd burn it and become paranoid.

I think burning it would be a little too much.

Well... I'd eat it then.

Eating paper with mysterious writing is hardly ever a good idea.

I here that India ink can be poisonous, is "china ink" any safer? Alright, I would attempt to fold it into some sort of origami beetle. I, lacking the dexterity necessary to fold anything properly, would surely fail, and become enraged. Then I would have to destroy it by whatever means were available. Acid?
