P. 21
And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is one badass chick. Holy crap. Frost will never admit how impressed and intimidated he is by Rhi. Which is fine, because I can admit it for him.

Frost: *GLARE*
Me (and Puck...for some reason): You're welcome!

Rhi's magic requires energy to create, so even though she survived being crushed to death and can get out, she probably doesn't even have the strength to stand at this point. That doesn't mean she's willing to give up, mind you. That said, I just don't see Rhi as a character who'd want to try and manipulate Frost's situation, even though she now knows his secret. It would be so easy to verbally manipulate him at this point, but I don't think she'd try and go for the pity plea.

P.22
Which is not to say Frost can't relate. Imagining Rhi's situation puts chills down his spine because it's so close to his own fears. I don't think Frost can help himself at this point; he has to reach out. She's earned his respect in more ways than one here.

P23
Originally the dialog was going to be more along the lines of "I can kill you, but I can't beat you," but it seemed to mix messages too much. The word choice was too violent, and got in the way of what I wanted him to express. Frost really doesn't view himself as very strong. On the contrary, he views himself as weak, but willing to work harder than most to make up the difference. As such, he really feels a little out-classed by Rhi...and kinda guilty for his stupid plan of "drop the building on her". Okay...REALLY guilty...

P.24
I don't know if you can see it, but the tunic on the man in blue in the Two of Cups has Frost's tattoo symbol repeated over and over on it. If only you could have seen it close up to start, you would have known alllll along how this was going to turn out...maybe...

She a zombie or something? How'd she manage to survive that?!? xD The Tarot idea was really interesting and Frost is starting to turn out like a real softy.

Rhi can make shields, much as she did earlier in the round against his steam cloud, as well as energy blasts. She used a shield to protect herself, and a blast to get out, but that pretty much exhausts all her energy. She can't do much more than crawl by the time she gets out.

.....How can I say....ho w simply wonderful this is?
the dialouge is wonderful and those....burns and cuts on Frost.... Truely painful. I shudder just looking at them. Amazing considering how I am.

Wonderful.
I'm lost at words.

I'm glad you like it. I even got creeped out a little drawing those wounds. If you're gonna hurt your characters, make it count. That's my motto...

Gotta love the "Oh shit" moments. It's hard to classify one competitor as Protagonist and one as Antagonist, so it's hard to know who to root for, but I find myself doing it every round...

I try to make both equally antagonistic and protagonistic.

I meant as a general rule while reading OCT entries, it's hard to know who to root for... but I do it anyway. But the entries are really intriguing this round, so I honestly don't want anyone to be eliminated... but I guess that's why it's a tournament. Too bad there isn't a tiered, loser out, never-ending OCT with weighted scoring that I can just watch forever... except maybe SDL... but the setting is kinda limiting on that one... Anyways, I'm rambling so I should just quit while I'm ahead.

I just get fiendish joy out of making the judges work. I'm glad all the entries are coming out so well.

*bang head against wall*
Eeeeee I wouldn't want to grab his iron rash creeper fungus hand that's just groooooss.
But Sending would. Because she's a gentleman like that.
*adds this to the list of things she doesn't have to do because she has an OC slave*
Again, gloriously gruesome job on the iron reaction. Iiiicky.
Really great with the emotions and desires, as well. You really did emphasize how Frost is so incredibly insecure; lacking even the confidence to not regret a victory if it was at the expense of someone he is impressed by. You really honored Rhiannon in this entry. I can tell how much you like her character and respect her.
For some reason the thought of 'holy shit' is all you need to express EXACTLY what Frost is thinking when she crawls up through the debris.
...
Which is something someone does in my entry... and knocking down a building... and in Aileen's entry... FECK. What is going on I BLAME PUCK.
Anyhow. Best of luck, Frost!

The hand! I know! I actually am working on some extras which include "Rhi's actual reaction" to that particular symbolic gesture. It's not like it'll be fun for him either. All those cuts and blisters are still fresh and REEAAAAALLLY painful. It's just yet another example of How Frost Doesn't Think Things Through.

I really have enjoyed working with Rhiannon, and honoring my opponent is my number one goal with every entry. I'm glad you felt that came across.

As for building destruction...welllllll 1) It's fun and 2) Nothing says "Public Menace" like the destruction of property. We're just doing our jobs!

Not to mention, that Essence of Godzilla Puck sprinkled in our water supply when we weren't looking. That cheeky lovable bastard.

...Dang...

You are doing a fantastic job of developing and portraying Frost. The panelwork was brilliant, like last time, and...just...dang. This was epic-the cards, however, could go either way-they could add to the entire comic because of how they united it so well or they could take away from it by being distracting.

Awesome. Absolutely epic...

I love (though there are twinges of pity for him)how you let him get injuries and let them show...very nicely done.

Well, you've got this off your back. Iiiiiii don't know who I want to win...(twiddles thumbs anxiously)

But honestly, why aren't I watching you?

Again, fantastic.

RobinRoneRobinRone In reply to Kalyn-Palak [2009-07-15 03:01:27 +0000 UTC]

I'm not quite finished, but it's mostly over. Two more pages and then some extras for the finish still to go.

With the cards...yeah, it's a risk. I debated over whether or not to do it this way for a while, but I wanted to have something to tie it all together and hoped that the benefits of uniting the round start-to-finish would out-weigh the risk of breaking up the action. Hopefully the gamble works in my favor.

Thank you for all the kind words! I'm glad you're enjoying it.

That is so awesome. Poor Frost; you can see him imagining losing Collin like that. Poor Rhiannon... I feel for her... Why can't they both win!?!

...*pout*...stupid rules...

This is epic. Well done :D (Big Grin)

RobinRoneRobinRone In reply to satu-d-2 [2009-07-15 02:07:14 +0000 UTC]

I felt the same way. I just couldn't justify Frost leaving her with nothing once he knew her situation, so if I get to move on to the next round, Rhi will continue to be a part of it.

satu-d-2satu-d-2 In reply to RobinRone [2009-07-15 02:58:01 +0000 UTC]

And I like how he asserts it's not out of pity. Pity doesn't really seem to be Frost's kinda thing... He's sweet :D (Big Grin) (well...to an extent...)

Also, this is just a random thing, I just finished reading Shades of Grey. It's fantastic! I picked a good time to read it, otherwise the suspense would've killed me Wink/Razz Random compliment: I love it. I've recommended my sister to read it to (once she gets better...) Thanks for posting it, it's really insightful ^^

Thank you for reading SoG! Frost may be fun, but SoG is where I keep my soul. The writing is a little rocky, (I started it when I was...uh...15 or 16?) but I think I'm getting better with time.

And yeah...suspense is, I am told, one of my specialties...I plan to use it as much as I can on Frost.

It wasn't a problem. It was, quite literally, my pleasure :D (Big Grin) I really bonded with pretty much all of the characters, and if one of them got hurt I literally pleaded aloud. Like when David had his wings cut off. I was a sad panda... It was great, and honestly, I could see your writing evolving. It was really awesome. If there's more I'll be following like a besotted puppy (stalkerish, I know, but it's addictive Wink/Razz)

I'm glad to hear you bonded with my characters. I think they are my greatest strength. And I think one of the neat things about web comics is you do get to see the evolution of a creator as they work. A lot of people go back and re-do everything, but I think that cheapens an important part of the whole experience for the reader.

I agree, it does take something away from the experience of reading it. It's excellent when you can see that happening, because you know that the author has grown and that makes it easier to relate... *cough* Anyway, it was excellent, I really enjoyed it. Thank you ^^
