Bonus panel day.

Part of the story I wrote for the Paradox story line was a worldwide virus causing fear and havoc across the globe. The beast feeds off of this, along with fear, misery, pollution, death, mistrust of others, hate, and creating a world of nightmares we are forced to live in. Not this fake outrage you seen on social media up to this year, where anger and posting hateful comments to each other is some sort of hate-sport done for laughs and likes.

No, this is the type of hate that makes you quiet and stare off into space. It is a a mix of anger and being powerless to do anything about it. Candy experienced some of that in Purgatory when she was constantly harassed to the point where readers starting wondering what the hell they were reading. There was physical relief when her arc ended, and it was a tough arc to write. That is a feeling close to what Paradox feeds off of and creates in us.

The silent hate.

And now I get to live a part of that story I had planned. Cruel irony is another tool in Paradox's box.

There are those out there though, online, still using this tragedy to score political points and to snipe at each other in the culture, political, and media wars. I can't even feel how - with people on ventilators and dying in their homes and hospitals - that any of this is even remotely acceptable anymore.

So I choose not to be exposed to it. So I delete these contacts from my social media accounts. This is not a reaction to being attacked, I rarely post anything and just lurk. If Twitter continues to be a place like this I am deleting my account there. If the media keeps this up I am blocking their content. So be it. They don't want my business and I want no part of theirs.

And by walking away, I can do something about it.
