Merry birthday, !Depicting a scene from Returning Darkness, where a naval battle took a rather interesting turn when a giant sea monster was summoned to take on the enemy leader's ship.

Nothing special, just the dollmaker Kelaris witha gauntlet and scales on the red armour parts. Storm waves were fun.

And wow! That looks amazing. I love the colour palette you used here. The storm and water looks phenomenal. And the leviathan tearing that ship apart is exactly as I envisioned it. This has to be one of my favourite pics of your alongside the one of Jinx and Estell flying on their mounts... which I for some reason haven't faved, fixing that.
And that underwater look really calls to mind the PotC scene, which obviously was one of the major influences for writing that scene.
I admit I though you meant other things when you mentioned Kelaris and tentacles, but I don't mind in the least

Thanks. Yes, I was thinking of the same PotC scene when drawing it (albeit, I wasn't using it as a reference), so maybe that's the reason why your imagination and this image turned out similar.
I made it sound like that intentionally, but I prefer not to make image debuts of characters in saucy situations. By the way, is Kelaris' costume design okay?

Makes sense. That is the only real giant sea monster vs ship scene I can remember from cinema.

Oh, yes, certainly. It is lighter than I had in mind, but I really like this take on it, especially the arm pieces came out really well. And you even put the gauntlet on the correct hand.

I recall such scenes from the first Detective Dee movie, but the PotC one definitely looked better, particularly the shot where the Kraken could be seen under water.
I draw porn only when the character's owner is explicitely okay with it and Kelaris never struck me as a particularly perverted character, anyway.
Well, I did scour the story for the armour description and while I found a description of her gauntlet, I didn't catch the actual armour, so I used the dollmaker reference you linked.

Yeah, the under water shot was really a treat. The only other under water sea monster scenes I recall on the top off my head are in Pacific Rim, but that is not exactly monster vs wooden ship.
My thoughts exactly. I have a character coming up in the current arc that is much more inclined to that, so that will open the door for all kind of shenanigans.
Right, I should probably have given you that too. The armour is first described when she finds it at the start of the last section in chapter 13, and again when she wears it at the very end of chapter 20 - in both cases it should be easy to find if you search for 'salamander'. Should you ever need the reference again.

Considering there was a pumpkin tank in Dark Legend and all kinds of dwarven machinery in the games and Shadow's Embrace, steam mecha could work in an Overlord setting.

That is true enough. I didn't have any far flying plans in that regard, but Sun has shown how much fun the use of tanks can be. I might have to take a second look at it when I meet the dwarves properly.
I will keep that in mind.

I assume your dwarves aren't as technologically developed as Sun's, considering they are not the main antagonists in RD?

Well, they certainly aren't as militarily powerful. They don't have armies large enough to control half the world on their own, but I imagine that the technological level is much the same, perhaps a little lower. She is using many of those weapons in her story that I designed for mine afterall. Mine also don't have access to sentinel magic as hers do.
