REP: The Eggstrings — Description

Eggstrings are a form of colonial fascizoans, where the mobile and the sessile stage have merged, creating a row of filter-feeding zooids on a segmented string. Unlike their non-colonial relatives, eggstrings colonize only hard surfaces. Due to their larger size and slower development, eggstrings tend to live in symbiosis with various microorganisms, with their presence's effects ranging from foul taste to producing deadly toxins.

Reproduction is similar to non-colonial fascizoans, except the gametes of the whole colony are unable to fuse with each other rather than just the gametes coming from a single zooid, and the zygote grows into a non-segmented, slug-like form that does little more than finding a place with suitable substrate, where it will attach itself, grow an additional segment, from which its first zooid grows.
