Description
One of many photos I took during ANZAC Day 2008, in Melbourne. This is the regiment I am a part of, though regrettably, was not able to march with them on ANZAC Day, but was stuck with another platoon. This is not my company however. My company wears kilts. This is a company of the 5th/6th Royal Victoria Regiment.Related content

How come the drill at arms in the Australian Army is different from the British Army?

Because when we changed over from the SLR, what ever bright spark wrote the drill manual for the F88 Styre decided we had to be different to the British. With it's bullpup design, styre drill could have been identical to the drill used by the UK for their SA80's, but knowing Australian politicians like I do, they probably just wanted to be different from the UK, which is unfortunate.
Foot drill however, is almost identical to the UK still, so that's something at least.

There are parts that look similar, but there are more differences than similarities. Good find though, enjoyable video to watch.

I took the photo. I wasn't allowed to march that day. I was assigned to do other things...such as take photos for the regiment XD.
