Oddly enough, the first thing I saw were the fish; what are koi fish doing here?
I do like how the girl has snatches of very light blue, it really makes her stand out from the greens and whites of the rest of the piece.

I think people release them in the rivers when they get too big for the pond, like the turtles which got released and now eat ducks!
I put them there for a splash of contrast colour but I suppose it was the wrong thing to do! As you say the light blue worked well as the additional colour and the orange wasn't needed. Thank you again for your nice thoughtful comment!

It wasn't the orange that confused me, this looks like a forest somewhere in the Northern Hemisphere, not Japan.
While it is true that koi fish are found in other places, they are usually only in wild places like the one depicted here in Japan.
That's all. But I suppose that could easily fall under the blanket of "fantasy." ;}

I'm not saying "don't use the fish." It's fantasy, for crying out loud. You could have flying fish from the Triassic Era and it would still be okay.

There were long-finned fish that may have leaped out of the water, but I don't think anything like what we picture as "flying fish," no.
That was just an exaggeration to play on the "fantasy" thing. It was the most outlandish concept on "fish" I could come up with at that moment. ;}
