Of course, she's probably only ACTING motherly in order to feed on the love the nymphlings gave her. All evidence in canon so far has suggested that she's a manipulative, sociopathic tyrant, like those monsters who wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice the lives of nymphlings to achieve success, make her enemies suffer fates worse than death, and do plenty horrible, HORRIBLE things to achieve supreme power.Β
That's my opinion, at least.Β

I prefer seeing her as a Queen and mother, genuinely concerned by her people well-being and safety,
and that acts like a seemingly-unrepentant tyrant not to see her wrong doings against Equestria, because she would not feel good at all, to say the least.
Once again, they need a serious dose of diplomacy.

That's a possibility.
But by going the "easy" way - violence -, she made sure Equestria was going from "neutral" to "enemy" towards the Changeling Kingdom.
