Description I had no idea what else to title this set because the brushes are so varied in style, but here you go!

Included in this pack are are a:

"Fine Texture" Brush
"Oily Bristles" Brush
"Bokeh" Brush
"Blocky Knife" Brush
8/19/2013 update: I added a "Texturer" paintbrush tool preset and it's respective paint dynamics (Gimp 2.8 only! See below.)

the preview image and readme file.

=====
I'll give you the rundown on what these can do. The first thing is that I painted all the strokes in the preview image with a brush size of 120 with no paint dynamics activated to show their stroke style in full. I painted with all of them set to 120 in size, but their default sizes are shown in the image and below this paragraph. The stamp on the far left represents what the brush's shape is like and the stroke to the right of it is the way the brush reacts. All were made with the "Paintbrush" tool with the exceptions of using the pencil tool for the Fine Texture and Oily Bristles brush to make it easier to stamp with something that the brush actually looks like.

-----

"Fine Texture" (300) Brush
This makes fine texture on anything (Obviously), but there's a little more to it. There are 4 layers of dotty texture like the preview image set to stamp at random to ensure that the texture doesn't look uniform. It scales well so you can also add this sort of texture to even very tiny areas. It paints dots so finely that it takes many, many strokes to fill up an area with as thick of texture as I showed at the right side the preview image stroke. In fact, that is the only brush in the image that I had to use more than one stroke to demonstrate it's potential. I found this to be a good thing because it gives you great control as to how much texture you want to put on something. If you want it to stamp texture faster, just decrease the brush spacing.

"Oily Bristles" (200) Brush
It is built like the bristles of a brush in a circular pattern for versatility. On top of making paint-like strokes, you can rapidly create lines, scratches, hair or anything that has a lot of lines together. Like the Fine Texture brush, it scales well and makes consistently thin lines at many sizes. My only warning for you with this though is that you might not want to have any "pressure size" paint dynamics on with this as the lines tend to get less uniform in pattern as the brush increases and decreases in size dynamically. Though it does make a interesting streaky texture. Try it out and see for yourself if that is desirable to you.

(Added warning for the above brushes: You might want to be careful using these in GIMP 2.6 or lower versions because their complex forms may lag GIMP to the point they are unusable even with the brush outline turned off in the preferences.)

"Bokeh" (500) Brush
This is mainly used for making light effects like lens flare or abstract drawings in general. You can of course scale it to the size you need and paint away. The brush stroke in the preview image is not how I intended it's use since it's meant to "stamp" circles like the brush shape on the left, but It simply looks better on the preview image because there would be nothing in that row then.

"Blocky Knife" (55) Brush
This is probably the most "basic" one of this brush lineup as it's pretty much a tilted brick with softened edges. I've found that this shape is rather handy with all sorts of tasks. When pressure opacity and size is on, you'll also find that it makes a very subtle liney texture at smaller line sizes.

-----

The "Texturer" preset and dynamic (Make sure you put them in the correct folders!) is basically a quick shortcut to using texturing brushes in general. It's set to my "Fine Texture" brush simply because it's included in this set, but you can set it to anything you want. It's set to have pressure opacity and it has a random angle to guarantee consistency with a single brush without looking too uniform or linear, while allowing you control how opaque your texture looks. These will only work on GIMP 2.8 because the dynamics and presets in other GIMP versions are built differently.

-----

I hope you enjoy them!

When i have time, I am going to learn how to use GIMP so that I can use all of the awesome brushes that you have made.

Cool!

If you are just using it to paint like with these, it's rather simple overall as you just select the brush tool, choose a brush and draw away. You can tweak the way your brush reacts with the brush dynamics under the tool options, but that's really about it for basic digital painting. You'll see when you check it out.

Once I learn how to use GIMP, I might make it my primary image editor, but I would still use the brushes even it I continue to use paint.NET more often. Still, thank you for the information; I appreciate it!
