Decided to take a couple of free hours today and do a study in:1) Lighting, especially soft lighting
2) Soft edges
3) Proper painting technique
Usually, I use a lot of the digital tools available to me in pursuit of a picture -- namely doing each bit at a time on a separate layer, with locked transparency; I focus heavily on lines and not strokes, on delineations and not planes. I decided to shake things up and try the traditional way (even if it was still digital). I tried to focus more on brush strokes instead out lines. It turned out quite well!

I'm curious what the percived light sources are from on the left side. The streaking contrast and angle of lighting seem to indicate a source of light from the back-right (her right), a source from above back Right, and a source from the right side, windows or a gel of some variety?

Nicely done! The contrast isnβt quite as broad as the photo, but you have the shapes and patterns down pat, without distortion of features or proportions. I noticed that you deleted the bikini bottoms, too, which I think makes for a better effectβtheir presence does create a slight visual interruption.
