Beautiful!
I'm just doing a little research for my story series (featuring the goddess Selene) and it's kinda funny that you depict her very similarly to me...long dk brown hair, blue eyes, milk-white skin...even the dress is very close to my design

couldn't it also resemble the goddess of the hunt (and the moon), Artemis? well, either way, i have to say that this is one of my favorite pieces i have found on here thank you for creating such a beautiful piece

I hate my scanner, too. They love to eat all color. This is lovely, though. I can't see what the scanner left out, but it's beautiful. Lovely gradation in the sky.

Thanks!
My scanner loves washing out pale/fine details... So I've lost some of the finer details in the skin tones & it's washed teh colours out a little bit. Not badly, but enough to annoy me

Thankyou so much! It was a slightly different colour combo to what I usually use... I think I'll be utilising it again

Can you share that particular colour combo or would you like to keep that a trade secret

I don't mind sharing at all!
Firstly, I laid down a light-ish base of Naples Yellow - it's almost creamy in its texture, so is pretty good for building upon.
Then I started laying down layers of Rose Dore for all the warm mid tones/shades.
For the shadows (ranging from mid to dark-ish) I used Winsor Violet (Dioxazine).
Finally, for any remaining areas where I felt needed much darker shading (Like the jawline, fingers, underneath the arm - casting shadow on her dress etc) I used a mixture of Winsor Violet and French Ultramarine.
I wanted to keep the skin tones in line with the colours used for the main bulk of the painting. Naples Yellow was used for the moon - Rose Dore, Winsor Violet and French ultramarine were used for her dress & the background in various combinations. The only colour not used anywhere else in the painting was Ivory Black, for her hair.
In using those 3 main colours for her skin tone you tend to get a more delicate glow that doesn't end up looking flat. The Naples yellow & Rose Dore work together to produce a lovely peach flush & the Violet maintains warmth in the shading. The French Ultrmarine provides just a hint of coolness & adds depth to the shadows.
Anyways, that's just one of the many skin tone combos that I experiments with & use. Hope this info is of use! Always happy to swap ideas with fellow artists

Thankyou so much!
The textures were fun to do. I found it a little hard to 'let go' and be more free flowing with my brush strokes & blobs of paint, but it's a lot of fun once you get into it!

your welcome!
Yeah, it's hard to let go, especially when you don;t know where the free flow will end up looking!

Thankyou so much!
I actually had a hard time with the colours in this piece... I was laying down individual colours, but they just weren't working the way I'd hoped. It wasn't until I started blending 2-3 colours together that I finally got the look I was after... Was fun mixing & blending
Her dress shimmers in real life - I just love using Iridescent medium

Wow you have an amazing talent for water colours. So jealous.
Hmm I'm taking a wild guess - Selene is the goddess of the moon?

Many thanks!
I spent a lot of time mixing up colour combos for this piece... I wanted everything to be tied together. Nowhere on the page is there a straight/singular colour. Everything is a combo of at least 2-3 colours, in the hope that it would add more depth & enhance the overall mood of the piece.
