People asked, so here's the technique I use. I'm not really the best when it comes to light source btw, so if you want to do that better, look at actual photos of hair and mimic.
Also, you can apply this technique to any program, really, not just Opencanvas. (Here's my Opencanvas tutorial by the way)

Sometimes people use pen/bezier but that's sucking the fun right out of it lol.
And as you can see by a lot of the examples on here, you can tell I still need to work majorly on hair too :U
