Description
People asked, so here's the technique I use. Also, you can apply this technique to any program, really, not just Opencanvas. (Here's my Opencanvas tutorial by the way)
Sometimes people use pen/bezier but that's sucking the fun right out of it lol.
And as you can see by a lot of the examples on here, you can tell I still need to work majorly on hair too :U

Hi there! I don't really make tutorials anymore but I will link you to a couple that come up on a quick 'braid tutorial' search, hopefully they are helpful to you as well.

Sorry for my late reply. I am unsure of how to apply these techniques to corel painter, as I have never used the program; I am sure there are other tutorials out there that are much more specific and thorough for your aims, however.

This is great! Thank you!

Love the tutorial especially the layered hair! I thought it was beautiful. I plan on practicing with my style over the next few months and doing lots and lots of experimenting as i get time.

Hey, thank you so much for the tutorial! XD
I mean, it gave me a good idea of HOW to get around to it (even though I'm looking for a tutorial on curly hair, ffft), but this helped a LOT! XD
Also, a very good point about having the hair not be see through, glad you mentioned that! (Though I consciously do it all the time since I'm lazy. *SLAPPED*)

Sorry for such a late reply. I hope you found what you were looking for in the mean time, about curly hair! (Curly is toouuughhh.)

Eh, can I just mention something?
I really like this tutorial, but I disagree at the end. If you're drawing anime or manga, it is common to see the eye/eyebrow through the hair. The hair still shows in front, but you can see the eye through it.

I was showing the method I personally used, with that being part of the method though I guess I could have been less titchy about it in retrospect. I do know it's common for the eyes and eyebrows to be shown in nearly all anime and manga but it's just something I rather dislike.

I'm with you there. Sometimes it's tempting to make the eye show through so you get more detail, but realistically speaking, you can't see through hair -,-

Yes, but then again, realistically speaking, the whole style is nearly anything but realistic haha!

I suppose so. But the difference between anime and cartoons for me is that anime is the more realistic one. Could just be me though.

JUST because of two things.
Eye's don't go through hair.
And you know and like Kyle Brovloski. :D.
