My entry for #metroid-club 's contest, "Boss Battle".Wanted to draw Samus vs. Crocomire.

How can you not like Super Metroid? It's the best designed game ever created!
Haha, I always did feel a little sorry for Crocomire, but that's only because he looks so dopey. Otherwise, he's one damn tough boss! It probably doesn't attack at first because it assumes no other organism really poses a threat- it's the only boss in the entire game that's impervious to normal damage after all.

I liked super metroid(use to)but knowing this guy made me sad and I didn't like it as much anymore
It's just very sad. Worst part was Samus didn't feel bad. It was so depressing to me. But the best of super metroid I like. Especially the baby

Samus committing genocide on a global scale is the cornerstone of the entire series' story, haha. The Metroids aren't capable of intergalactic travel, so why was she sent to their home planet to eradicate their entire species? Crocomire is far from the only thing she's killed without remorse, all other things she's killed also acted out of their natural instinct for survival and self defense.
I think that moral ambiguity is what makes the Metroid series so much more interesting than Nintendo's other properties. Samus isn't exactly what I'd call a 'likable' character, but that's what I like about her, haha, if that makes any sense.

I always prefer to do most of my work traditionally, so I most always lay digital colors over my traditional pencil drawings, which is probably why it goes off that slightly traditional vibe.

Oh haha, I was thinking it'd be embarrassing if you've already seen it. And that makes sense, I've been admiring the pencil texturing you did. But it's your digital coloring that has me looking twice. Really subtle color work, it's really very impressive how it doesn't contrast harshly with the pencil. And you're welcome, good luck in the contest. I went ahead and entered my own Queen Metroid piece.
