thanks for your comment. I havn't been around here for a while so I just read your message today.
I do web page graphics and some css for people and organisations. I don't do much database stuff, mainly front end website graphic/ design. What is it that you do or interests ?

i don't have any tuts available myself, but there are a few around the net. i just usually keep to a simple style of working on a dark background using only a few tools, one is the lighten/darken and the other is push/smudge (in psp) using a fine size brush to create the metal form, mostly on a single layer. then add elements like glass on their own layers above, etc. the rest is upto your imagination.

Try to make your pages at resolution 800x600 because it's more comfortable

i love the circular buttons next to the featured winamp skin, they look really grungy. maybe you could make the other buttons slightly grungy too to keep it all similar...

Looks like it's coming along nicely. And yeah, I can see you're having a bit of trouble with the glass 
My suggestion would be to work a bit on those icons. They look a bit unclear, which is 'evil' for an icon 
I think the detailed/finished version of this is gonna be kick ass.
