Sadly capcom forgot about it completely. They should at least add a few of its characters to the new street fighters IMO.

but not in the regular roster, just once or twice in some games.
Yeah, a new rivals school would surely get a lot of attention

Great work on this. I like the blurred fist and the motion of the background.

Thanks bro! Funny, I like this image too, but doesn't seem have created a great impression on people. I tried to make the art the most capcom-like as possible and possibly it backfired a bit.

You're welcome.
And that's a shame to hear. I think it's good you tried to make the piece more like the Capcom art style.

Oh yeah. I had the exact same issue with Inktober this year. Still, learning from our mistakes allows us to grow and improve.

Wow... you are the first person I know (friend) that was able to do it hahaha. Honestly I've never even tried hahaha. Also I can see that Theora got lots of love this year haha.

It was my second year at doing it, but I found it to be a lot more stressful than last time.
I wanted to draw more of my OCs, but as I covered in a journal, some people felt the unveiling of newer ones lead to a rushed, not well thought out design so I decided to put them on hold for the time being and focus more on established characters.

Otocai In reply to pawcanada [2017-11-06 16:06:48 +0000 UTC]
Yup... that's one of the reasons I don't even try inktober. If I get my hands full with a weekly raffle and commissions sometimes when real life job gets dense, imagine adding an extra layer of having to do a drawing daily.
Eh? For example? What did they say?

pawcanada In reply to Otocai [2017-11-06 16:14:45 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, other commitments can make it difficult to find the time. I do daily sketches so I just saw it as an extension of that. However, due to work, various physical activities (i.e. trying to at least do 10,000 steps a day) and social events I often didn't have the energy and will until late in the day, usually making it the last thing I did before bed. One week a D&D session went on way longer than expected and I had twenty minutes to finish and upload a piece that, thankfully, I started before people arrived, but in turn, went to be about an hour late.
It was for a ninja girl (and new lover for Theora) I envisioned having a slim figure like League of Legend's Jinx, shoulder length hair like Dragon Ball's #18 and a top similar to the one Street Fighter's Ibuki wears, on top of other ideas like a scarf, waist wrap and hakama. He felt I was just throwing things together as a rush job, mostly due to me doing it just before I go to bed and not properly "refining it" as I had done with other designs.

Day 11?
Well, it's called inktober for a reason, it's the whole damn month. I would like to see how well he fares with a daily drawing. That is, unless he's just sitting his ass there and had no kids/job/responsibilities.

pawcanada In reply to Otocai [2017-11-06 16:57:57 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, that's the one. I'm not happy with the piece myself to be honest and I do feel it was rushed.
Granted, he may have taken my inspiration a little too literally as well. I often start off basing an OC off some characters, but change and and mould them into something different over time.

Otocai In reply to pawcanada [2017-11-06 17:14:09 +0000 UTC]
And we all do that. At this point everything existed, and even if you randomly say "I want a character with a top hat", even if it is not inspired directly in one in particular, you already have seen at least someone with a top hat in your live and that settled the concept in your head, so what's the point of arguing and criticizing that?

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. His comment did leave me a little baffled but at the same time, I do agree the design needs more work.

Otocai In reply to pawcanada [2017-11-06 17:49:55 +0000 UTC]
Which you could have done if you had time to sit calmly and think about everything properly, but then all the "1 drawing per day" wouldn't be possible and that's how the inktober would have died swiftly. Right now at least you have the basic concept art to work with, and that is already one step ahead.
I honestly wanted to do something better with the BG of Thalbina, but I had no time at all so I had to went with just that plain night sky and that cheap city lights effect below.

True. I do feel he jumped the gun a little with his critique on the design. Then again, I had a random idea for a re-design for my OC Tabitha as I was doing Inktober and felt that panned out well, so I hoped to "catch lightning twice" with Jen's design.
Perhasps, but I personally think that simple design worked really well for the Thalbina picture .

It caught my eye since I also have a Tabitha, but mine is a mage hehe. Anyway, you are doing this because you enjoy doing it, so in the end of the day, unless you plan to make money out of it, as long as it makes you happy it's fine.
About the BG, yeah, but I'm my most aggressive critic hehehe.

pawcanada In reply to Otocai [2017-11-07 19:37:29 +0000 UTC]
Maybe that could lead to a future crossover commission ?
I have no plans to live off my art. I've learned doing things I enjoy for money is a quick way to kill my interest in them. As art is a form of relief for me, I want to keep it "pure". Maybe one day I'd take a commission if I was good enough but for now I'm content with it the way it is.
I think we all are. Half of my artist descriptions are filled with flaws I've seen in the piece. Because I write comments for ProjectComment, I've found it "easier" to spot the flaws I make, albeit once the piece is done.

Hahaha that one has a different purpose, she is the main character of her own tale.
Living out of art... that sounds too good for me hahaha, I wish I could earn from what I'm doing enough for it. Of course, like right now where I'm not forced to do something I don't like.
"I think we all are"
I beg to differ in this one my friend, a few names came to my mind where no mater how much you try to explain them why their stuff is bad or needs correction, they refuse to call their stuff anything but a masterpiece. And oh boy... they REALLY could use a tip or two...
In one of such cases, the history of the world contradicted itself even within the same pharagraph, as if you wrote something, changed your mind and then in the following lines explain it so it could be understood in a different way. I mean... the advantage of writing in a computer is that you don't need to do that, just delete the previous line but nope... not even that... it was "perfect" acording to her...

Oh cool . I look forward to seeing more of her.
If you can, some day, make a money off art and enjoy doing so then I say go for it . Different people work in different ways, and some excel when they can make a hobby a living.
True. I'll admit I do feel I can get defensive when people critique my art, but I always try to listen to what they say. If I do counter them, I try to make sure the commenter and I are on the same page in case of confusion; maybe they'll understand why something turned out the way it did if they're on the same page as me. Then again, I always worry I come across as someone who can't take criticism when I do that. I'm probably no where near as bad as them because a) I have taken the criticism and b) I worry I might not come across like I do, but it's a worry I can never shake.
That is very true, although sometimes I forget to do that myself . It's why I try to take my time when I write something on dA and, if I can, write it in advance so I can mull it over, re-write it and so forth.

I wonder why... capcom hasn't never been too shy about milking dry the money cow. And SNK has proven that it is EASY money just porting similar old games like waku waku 7.

Actually I hated the latest MvsC, I tried the demo and I found it like... lacking of spirit. Doing 1 button combos was kinda depressing for me.

I haven't even tried SF5. I just don't find in it anything that makes me think it is worth playing it if I already have the SF4. Also somehow adding all those new mechanics and everything kinda decreases the fun for me. I've been playing SF since the early '90 and I loved the simple gameplay. Now with the combos, the breakers, the counters, the specials, the bla bla bla I find it overwhelming. This is how I feel about new fighting games vs old (or basic) ones:

Probably reducing the amount of mechanics so you could enjoy more of the fight and spend less time trying to choose/remembering the mechanics. In my case, my two favorite games (Samurai Shodown 4 and Eternal Fighter) have both something quite enjoyable for me: 3 levels of attack and 1 aditional button (in SS4 its the kick and in EF its an special for some characters). I don't need to think about using a kick or punch, I use low attack for a fast reaction or a counter, mid for some balance and heavy when I know I can land a devastating hit. In SS4 the fights keeps you at the border of your seat, since a single failture could end up taking devastating damage (if example, a friend of mine is main Basara and he has a 2 hit combo that properly landed can take over 50% of your hp). In EFZ the fight is SUPER fast paced and your reflexes and quick thinking are the key for your survival, but since every character feels different, you will eventually find one with a game style that you enjoy (in my case I'm main of a character called Amano Mishio, she's slow but can deal obscene damage and her gameplay resembles a lot SS4 style).
Now, those are my favs, among street fighter alpha 2 and I know it's not a very popular opinion, but well... that is the kind of gameplay I look for in a videogame.

SS4 is Samurai Shodown 4, and yup, EFZ is eternal fighter zero. This last one is a fan-made game based on the Key's company visual novels.
Another fun thing about SS4 is that all the supers have the same, simple sequence so you don't have to twist your fingers to pull it out (B, F, D + AB) and even if you use it, if you don't land it it won't be wasted. In fact, since some moves change when you have your super bar full (pow or rage bar, however you feel like namingn it) in some cases is better to not use it but take advantage and overwelm the oponent with the powered up moves.
If you feel like playing it, it is available for ps vita, ps4 and nintendo switch.

Otocai In reply to TAG990 [2017-11-12 21:27:57 +0000 UTC]
Yes, it feels very different. Normally you are expecting to get caught in combos or catch your enemies in your own combos and for that to happen serveral times during the round. On this one, with some bad luck you could end up defeated in 3~5 isolated attacks. Something to take into account if you still haven't seen that is that when someone hits you while you are attacking it counts as a counter attack, dealing devastating amounts of damage. If in top of that, the other person has the "pow" bar full... I'll just say that in samurai shodown 1 I once defeated the final boss with only 3 attacks well landed.
Another notorious thing of this one is that the jump feels a bit higher than in SF and a bit more floaty. Since there's no air guard, with some characters (like Amakusa or Sogetsu) jumping must be planned very carefully.

Otocai In reply to TAG990 [2017-11-12 22:21:49 +0000 UTC]
Well, probably this way is less popular among most people. Consider that SNK is also the creator of the King of Fighters series, which is closer to a street fighter than to a samurai shodown and well, if they are investing more in it, means that is the style that people likes the most. For me, this style will definitely be one of my favorites.
Mortal Kombat... died to me after ultimate MK3. When they moved to 3D and started adding weird stuff it wasn't fun or special anymore to me.
