They walked down the hall to a staircase.

"We aren't using the elevator?" Jena asked.

"Stairs are faster," James replied, and then leaned close to Jena adding, "Also, you don't want to see Scarlet in an elevator."
Jena glanced at Scarlet.

"You move without walking," Scarlet explained uncomfrotably. "It's not natural."
Without another word, Scarlet pushed through the doorway and started up the stairs. Stepping out of the doorway, she nearly ran into Christian, who was walking down the hallway.

"Sorry," Christian said apologeticly.

"Christian," James said in greeting, then after Jena exchanged an uneasy glance with Christian, he added, "Jena, this is Christian; he's a friend. Christian, this is my friend Jena."
