27 - nightmares — Description
Prompt 27, "nightmares".
TRIGGER WARNING: subject of abuse.
The text comes from Rammstein's "Mein Herz Brennt", which is roughly a song about the nightmares of children.

I didn't pick this subject because I was going for shock value, or to be edgy.
I did it because my experiences are important to me.

Victims of sexual abuse are met with an awful dilemma. 'Hamlet' illustrates it beautifully.

Why wrestle with such a subject? I have a point. What is a powerful preventative factor is simply vigilant, observant, critical thinking. Always consider those who are trusted, respected, well-known. One need not be driven to paranoia to do this, moderation in all things. But whenever you have someone who occupies a venerable place upon your mind's or society's pedestal, consider in some measure their capacity to do acts of evil. If you never understand or appreciate the unfulfilled capacity of someone to do evil, you're not truly understanding their goodness or virtue. Good people are good, not because they are incapable of committing harm, but because they are - and still choose NOT TO.

Nightmares. Victims can forgive and go on to live incredible lives, but the scars sustained from sexual abuse are deep and ingrained almost into the body itself.
