It did! He cut it off himself in return for something of equal value
The scar on his chest came from him being defeated in battle with a poltergeist slayer gone rogue, he was put back together by a kind stranger. The one on his neck came from an older battle with another poltergeist, he wasn't decapitated but it came p close
