Description
This is a tribute drawing I did to Rick Rescorla, head of security for Morgan Stanly (the company I work for). He died in the 9\11 trade centers collapse. Against orders he lead just under 2700 MS employees down 40 plus flights of stairs and saved their lives. He had predicted that this would happen after an earlier attempt to bomb the trade centers. He had previously thrown together the emergency situation practices for MS employees that made this exit such a smooth process. He was last seen on the 10th floor going back up to help more people out. He also fought in Viet Nam in Ia Drang. I was working for Discover Financial at the time of 9/11 (MS sistering company) and remember being prepared with an emergency script for families searching for their loved ones. A year later I worked directly for MS and heard all about him. I since moved to different employers until a year ago I moved back to SLC and am once again employed by MS doing tech support till I finish school. I was unpleasently suprised as 9/11 passed by (its been 7 years) and his name was barely mentioned by a few employees, and most knew nothing of the man or his sacrifice. I did this as a tribute to him and his fellow security officers who died in the service of my fellow employees.
