Description
"I saw the blast coming, but there was nothing I could do. I tried calling out, tried to warn him, but it was too late. He was still smiling when the bolt of burning plasma struck him in the back of the head. I saw his eyes go wide in shock, then rolled back in his head as he fell. I screamed out his name in horror as I ran towards his motionless body. I didn't even bother to power up my own buster, as the assassin had already fled."I dropped down beside him, unable to tell how bad the damage was, the back of his head a mass of smoke melted metal and sparking wires. I turn him over. His face looks so peaceful, serene. The scent of burning metal and vaporized plastics fills the air. I try taking off his helmet, but my hands keep slipping. I can barely see through the smoke, the fumes burning my eyes, making them water even more...
"No, I will not cry. There's no time for that now. Even as I told myself that I found it hard to do. I wanted to cry, but I won't. Too much is at stake to let myself be distracted now. Even as the tears gather at the corner of my eyes, I force myself to hold them back, to keep working at the stubborn helmet.
"Finally it comes free, and I toss it to one side. I go to check his vitals, and see his lips move. He's alive! He's trying to speak, but its too faint to hear. Pulling my headset off, and cradling his head in my arms, I strain to hear what may very be the last words he'll ever say to me...
"'Did you get the license plate of the load-lifter that hit me...'
"He was joking about this?! I couldn't believe he'd actually joke with me after being shot in the back of the head. Didn't he know how scared I was? I punch him in the chest, but lightly. My anger with him was nothing compared to the relief I felt.
"A single tear starts to roll down my cheek, and he wipes it away with his thumb, smiling softly at me. He leans forward bringing his lips closer to mine, while I bring my arm around his neck. He removes his hand from my face as our lips brush together, moving down my neck, to the small of my back as hold him closer..."
Alia and Dynamo from the Megaman X games. I put out a challenge to my friends to give me pairings for sap and fluff pictures that they'd like to see. This was one of the results, which I think turned out much better than one I did of X and Iris. I think the armor came out a bit thinner than it is in the actual character art, but I didn't want the armor to interfere with the *ahem* interaction.

Nice manga-style, I also love the shading and contrasts between the black and the shadowed parts. There's a lot of emotion in this pic, which becomes more clear when she keeps her hands clenched like that- very good!

Amazing!
This is traditional art!
You didn't use any program to clean up the background?
It's awesome...
I'm not alone yay!

I do clean up my images in one of my phomanipulation programs, usually photoimpression. My scaner is evil and seems to pick up smdges and fingerprints that are invisiblte to the naked eye. I usually can take care of this by messing with the contrast/brightness, but I think I had to clean up individual marks in this with the eraser and crop tools. I actually want to put a background in this, or at least a gray backdrop, because there are subtle shading differences in the dark areas that seem to get washed out against the white backdrop.

It's really difficult to draw a kiss and not make it looks like two people are colliding or incredibly unnatural. But you got it! I haven't ventured into the whole kissing subject matter because it's so difficult for me! lol The two are completely comfortable with each other, and the picture itself flows nicely! good job! I dub you, "Master of Drawing Makeout Scenes" lol

Thanks. It took a while to get this one to look right. Hardest part is getting both the faces and the bodies to line up how I wanted. Lots of rough sketches. Working on trying different poses and angles for the faces for future ones. The "How to Draw Manga: Couples" book is a big help.

Thank you. I usually have a hard time getting the interaction to look right. I learned a lot from the "How to Draw Manga" series, but the majority of it was a bunch of practice. One of the reasons I asked my friends to give me ideas for couples (other than the romantic phase I seem to be going through in my art), was so I could get more practice in. This one is the first romantic image that I feel turned out the way I actually imagined it.
This drawing actually went through several incarnations before I could finish it. I originally planned an image similar to the final one, but couldn't get the angle of the heads and bodies right. I scrapped it and sketched out a basic standing kiss, but when I turned it on its side, it looked exactly like what I had originally wanted. I started another drawing, but it was stained during the basic layout by butter from the popcorn I was eating during my foreign films class. Third time's the charm, so I started again, using my previous drawings for reference, and plugged away at this on and off for the last two days.

Its not so much patience (the reason I'm a pencil artist: I hate waiting for paint to dry) as lots of long classes. Thankfully, my brain can multitask and listen to the lectures, otherwise i'd be in big trouble when exam time came around.

lol, i know that feeling. The curse of the artist, that school book and boredom. Though, it does make our best work.
