Beautiful! I love the idea. Although I didn't ship ArWen, I have to say, this is simply amazing. Love the colours and the highlights. Older Arthur looks so... mature and I really do like the scar (it IS a scar, right?) on his cheek. Brilliant. Love it!

So beautiful, the colours, the lighting and especially Gwen's face. As another fan of the metaphysical poets I think this is the perfect embodiment of the poem

Thank you! I had trouble deciding on a name for this piece, and while I was flipping through the book again for ideas, I landed on Henry's favorite poem--which just felt appropriate for the nature of this piece.

Wohoooo!! Yay! You put it up here! I just love it to death!! Amazing Amazing Amazing! I already said it on livejournal...but how you made Arthur look so much like a king without using a crown and stuff is just...phenomenal!
WOW! I love that!

Aww you're sweet! Thanks for the double comment! Yeah, I wanted to wait until I fixed the coloring of Gwen's skin before posting it here. Hope if worked.

Beautiful artwork! Gwen's face, especially, is lovely.

Had we but world enough, and time,
This coyness, lady, were no crime.
We would sit down and think which way
To walk, and pass our long love's day;

-Andrew Marvell, "To His Coy Mistress"

It's a beautiful phrase, although it comes from a poem that is, essentially, a plea to get in someone's pants. >D

HAHAHAHA Seriously? That's hilarious. I had no idea, as I had never read the poem. Oh, Henry DeTamble, you saucy minx. But you're right, it is still a lovely phrase taken out of the context of the poem .

Thanks for the comment!

It's a beautiful poem, full of gorgeous phrases and sentiment. But if you sit back and examine it, it's basically a really slick talking guy encouraging his "coy" lady to "try" against her "long preserv'd virginity" lest they grow old and die in the passing of time before she decides to "let us sport us while we may".

The poem has some other famous expressions:

The grave's a fine and private place, but none I think do there embrace. and
tear our pleasures with rough strife.

The phrase "world enough, and time" was used quite beautifully and sentimentally in The Time Traveler's Wife...I got teary-eyed! Since then, though it's always made me think of Doctor Who, and Doctor/Rose.
