DESIGN:
I chose John Simm as The Riddler, mainly because as I was researching David Tennant, I found John Simm more intriguing, and after watching some of his performance, I concluded he can pull off almost any incarnation of The Riddler, wether it's a Federal agent gone rogue (popular depiction in fanfics), or the quirky smart guy with a huge ego.
The Rubik cube's colors are white, green and purple. It has "Who is *batman symbol*?" written in it, with square tiles having parts of Batman. He IS wearing a BOWLER HAT, it may not look like it, but he is.
DESCRIPTION:
My version would be of that of a enigmatic character who cites Gordon to a secret meeting, sending him a anonymous note, in which an easy riddle conveys that the sender knows something about the Dent incident, and wants to meet up with Gordon. He is met in the night, in a pier. His face is never seen by Gordon nor by the viewer. He's wearing a green coat, white shirt, black tie, green bowler hat, black gloves, dark gray pants, and black shoes. Although he stands with his back to the sea, his face is impossible to distinguish, just a smirk is exposed.
He shows arrogance in telling Gordon he knows best, and he will find the proof to incriminate both Gordon and Batman, and on top of that, he's gonna find out who Batman is, but that's just for his eyes only *grins*.
or
He can just help them get the next villain in the same way, talking to Gordon anonymously and feeding him information. In either way, I think it would be great having him solving a Rubik cube, and when Gordon and/or Batman decide to get him he properly finishes the Rubik cube and throws it at them showing it's a smoke bomb (which obviously activates when you finish the cube).
LOOK:
His look is inspired by "The Son of Man" by Rene Magritte, which is a man in a bowler hat and suit standing with his face obscured by a green apple.
I find that The Riddler persona might be inspired by that painting, as it plays with the inquisitive desire of man, and Rene Magritte's description of it fuels that:
"Everything we see hides another thing, we always want to see what is hidden by what we see. There is an interest in that which is hidden and which the visible does not show us."

This is plain awesome. There is another pic, where David is The Riddler, with his suit painted in green, but you are right, John Simm would be definately a more intruiging Riddler. Kinda like comparing Nicholson to Ledger as the Joker.
And here's a little something for you
Twinkle, twinkle, little 'Doc,
Tell me, Who's the Master now?

john simm, without any doubt would be the best riddler EVER! better than dep, norton, tennant, laurie or C. hall. creepily gleeful, colorful, evil, mad and witty. the kind of man who watches everything burning from the shadows, then dances on the ashes.

I never really thought of John Simm when i was thinking of people to play the Riddler; but now that u mention it, his performance in doctor who was pretty awesome and he probably could pull off the role of the Riddler

Some folks at [link] are making manips of Jim as the Joker, at first I was skeptic but after seeing them (they're not great pieces of manipulation, just simple color manip) Jim Carrey CAN play the Joker.

It would be great to see JS on the big screen!
Sadly I don't think he would ever accept a Hollywood blockbuster script.
But the poster you created lets me at least dream about it.

Simply amazing. I really like your personal take on The Riddler, but I'm wondering, isn't The Joker also just a mystery behind a mystery? It would be pretty hard to differentiate between the two, unless Riddler completely outsmarts the Batman at every turn without an army of goons like The Joker.

The difference here is that Joker is a known mystery, you are watching the guy on first view commit crimes and laugh, but this Riddler is not seen. Imagine a meeting between Gordon (Batman ninjaing as always) and this Riddler. In the docks, a place barely lighted. Riddler standing under a lightpost, you can't see much detail, just the figure and some green from his clothes, but not much of the face, the eyes are darken like a shadow domino mask. Gordon is ordered not to get close by him, Riddler talks about how there's people who know about Dent and the lies they have told Gotham, but he's here not to threaten but to assist them, you see, he was not a witness or knew much about what happened, he deduced it. The only thing he demands is credit. Tell the world the Riddler helped Batman and GCPD. Just plain for vanity.
