Description
*2 Hours after the Nightmares enter the human world, a massive coordinated human insurgency begins*Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado
Alerted to a woodland town being ravaged by sandmen, a contingency of M2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles foolishly break away from a convoy of Abrams tanks, to liberate the town of Scuttler's creations and subsequently rejoin the convoy. The Bradleys deploy themselves, headlong into the village, and immediately fire upon the Underlords minions. The vehicles, at first, appear to be making quick work of the Sandmen. But a growing rumbling becomes apparent to the crews of the fighting machines. A Smiley emerges from the trees and flanks one of the vehicles, gripping onto it. Using most of the intelligence it's primal instincts can offer, it begins tearing at the machine with it's powerful jaws; trying to find it's major weaknesses. The crew can only hope that it doesn't go for the main turret or the hatches, which would leave them exposed to the eldritch beings.
I'm going to level with you, I don't really know why I drew THIS particular scene. I haven't read a DreamKeepers book in damn near a decade, so my understanding of the lore is fuzzy. I did this more to gain experience with different drawing techniques and exit my comfort zone. I suppose it may have also been a desire to create an alternate timeline.
Criticism is welcomed.

While the concept of the Nightmares invading our world has already been debunked, it is no less amusing to see interpretations of how the defense of our world would play out. We could use more fanart like this.

I wonder if this is what happens when the dreamkeepers fail?

I've always wondered how the human world's military forces would fair against the Nightmare invasion should they ever discover interdimensional transportation. But then again, it would probably be like the Seven Hours War mentioned in the game Half-Life 2.

It really all depends on what part of the world the Nightmares attack first. Africa, Europe and South Asia would be annihilated within the first week. The U.S., Russia and China would have to scramble their forces if they are attacked first, but by that point a third of their nations would already be destroyed. Air superiority would be a non-factor if we're dealing with Nightmares with ranged energy powers as our gunships and jets would be picked out of the sky. Tanks and other heavy armor would be pounced on and demolished by creatures like Smiley. Many of our infantry would likely be overwhelmed by swarms of Nightmares just throwing themselves at us. Eventually, the nukes will have to come into play. It really wouldn't bode well for us if they invaded our world.

Well, unless we Humans form an alliance with the Dreamkeepers to coordinate an effective resistance against the Nightmares.
