Not an animal you often see - but I think she's beautiful. Normally they're just doing their thing, living their life, and basically ignoring us. But for once, I made sort of contact and wanted to capture the moment.

Species: Turkey (Kalkoen)

Latin name: Meleagris Gallopavo

Originates from North America.

Current status: Least Concern

…The Domesticated Turkey was once upon a time bred rom the Wild Turkey; where the Wild Turkey has brown feather the Domesticated Turkey was bred to have mostly white feathers.

…Turkeys are sexually dimorphic – adult males are larges, and its plumage is varied in color. They also have a large, featherless, reddish head, red throat and red wattles on the throat and neck. The head also has flesh growths that are called caruncles. Females are smaller, and have duller plumage.

…When a male Turkey gets exited, the snood (a fleshy bit of skin on the bill), the wattles and red skin of the head and skin will become engorged with blood.

…When Turkeys vocalize – so-called gobbling – it can be heard up to a mile away.
