Look, I felt sorry for him, but I couldn't excuse that. He got cheated on by a girl on their second or third date, if that. I can't remember. They weren't officially girlfriend-boyfriend, they weren't officially committed yet, they didn't do any of that "I love you" crap, and yet he reacted that way. Look I could understand him being pissed; hell, I would be too. I could understand him getting drunk like he did (he didn't, but the writers hinted. Seriously). But really, crying and sobbing in a way that went from being comically-exaggerated to being not funny at all, that was just unnecessary.

I agree with most of your points.

Zuko is much more badass than Mako.

Now, I lean a little more to Kaataang, but I understand Zutara. The writers did hint at that a lot, I will concede. And maybe it would have made more sense for Katara to end up with Zuko, some symbolic thing about people from warring nations falling in love or some kind of symbolic crap my English teachers cram down my throat. I admit, I was a little unsure about Aang and Katara. I mean, I've had a lot of crushes on girls older than me, and I've only successfully dated one.

I do think Aang and Katara had good chemistry, together. However, I found the amount of characters meeting their soul mates that young to be highly unrealistic.

Personally, I think my favorite ship was Tang. Those characters, Aang and Toph, were so different in so many ways, yet they worked so well together. Something about the voice actors playing Toph and Aang working together was very well done.

Also, as I've matured, I realized I like Toph and Aang more because it would be more realistic in certain ways. First of course, their ages, both 12 instead of 12 and 14 with Aang and Katara. But also, it would have added more depth to Aang by depicting him go through the pain of realizing that his crush, Katara, did not like him back and then show him getting over it on by developing feelings for Toph as she taught him Earth-bending. I know, this probably would've been to angst-ridden to show on a kids show, but I think it would've taught kids that the people you like might not like you back. I know this from personal experience. I don't know, I just like the idea of Aang going through it and moving on. Because, that's really all someone can do in that situation.

Yeah. I really love Zutara. Kataang just never did it for me. It tended to be awkward at times. I personally love the idea of Zutara. It really has the opposites attract thing going on and water and fire kinda stuff always appealed to me. Not to mention it was hinted at and was originally intended to be canon. So you can't blame Zutara fans for supporting it.

I agree with you completely. Taang is a really good pairing. It would have worked really well! I've never been a fan of cliche pairings where you know they'll end up together. Like you said, it would have been interesting if Aang had a crush on Katara and then had to move on and later started to like Toph. I always loved the idea of this pairing.

Zutara got hinted a lot, and so did Taang and Tokka.

I think younger kids respond better to the unrealistic true love thing that Kataang was based on, whereas somebody who's lived longer and has personally experienced rejection and moving on would like Taang better. Being a nerd, I had to do that a lot, move on from rejection.
