Description
Hey wanted to draw some fanart of a fun and cute game for children.
Asriel makes me very sad. I love him he may be my favorite. Also Flowey. Of course that’s kind of redundant isn’t it?
I had a lot of fun drawing this (does that make me a sadist?) but it took me like hours, partly cause it’s detailed and partly cause TV is distracting.
Get ready for more Undertale fanart probably. I love this game so much it makes me cry.

Haha man I enjoyed the heck out of it. I just played it for hours. I beat it I think in two or three days.
I've replayed it a few more times since and it's become one of my favorite games

Ah. Well, glad to hear you replayed it at least! Including a few times where I forgot about the game and the month-long break I took to recover from my overwhelming disappointment and confusion after first encountering Omega-Flowey, I'd say it took about 2 1/2 months to beat the game on my first playthrough.
Besides browsing/creating pics on DeviantArt, I've been trying to stay away from Undertale as much as possible. The last thing I want is to lose my interest in/feelings toward this game.

Oh shoot man the moment I finished that battle I loaded it right back up. I didn't kill anything on my playthrough so I wanted to do everything I missed so I could see the best ending heh
I can understand that. I backed off from it quite a bit for a while cause it got overwhelming. Still love it though, even if I've moved onto other things for the time being

I wouldn't say Flowey and Asriel are the same person. Flowey was made by Asriel's essence (and some Determination), and there was enough of Asriel in Flowey to reincarnate a simulacrum of Asriel with enough raw power, but they don't act the same or think the same.

i dunno, i always saw them as the same but his inability to feel made him crazy.
Afterall when he talks about his experience upon waking up as a flower he behaves much more like Asriel
I always just viewed Flowey as being the way he was after being in that state for too long and it affecting his mind.
But i mean it's never explicitly stated the nature of his uh..."condition" i guess if you could call it that hah

If they don't have the same body, if Flowey doesn't have Asriel's soul, and they don't act the same...what makes Flowey and Asriel the same?

It's complicated but when examining the evidence the game gives you, it's suggested that the flower that Alphys brings to life through her determination experiments is the flower that bloomed in the spot where Asriel died and his dust scattered.
Injecting that flower with determination probably caused Asriel's dust to meld into the flower.
Plus at the end of the pacifist run, Flowey turns into Asriel for the final battle. He even says "Finally...I was so tired of being a flower" and many times during the end scene he talks about how when he lets the other souls go he'll turn back into Flowey.
The genocide run reveals this even more. Flowey remembers being Asriel and at first was scared and lonely and didn't understand why he couldn't feel any love for his parents as a flower.
Asriel's soul may be gone in a sense but determination essentially melted Asriel's dust into this flower without a soul. The determination gave it the will to live.
Essentially that would make Flowey an amalgamate of Asriel and a flower, kind of like the other amalgamates in the true lab

It's a bit like saying that since a demon was summoned by sacrificing a victim, and since killing the demon brings the victim back to life, the demon is the victim.
