A rather odd character even as travelers go, Tene has the unfortunate habit of creeping out most other folk, usually without any intent to do so. Known for their unblinking stare, strange mask which they almost never remove, nocturnal habits and silent, almost uncanny way of sneaking up on others, plenty avoid interacting with them. This is made all the more problematic as it's unclear if Tene is mute, or just chooses not to speak, therefor struggling with communicating outside of nonverbal behaviors, writing and some basic ASL. They don't appear to be very bothered by this though, and seem to be a bit oblivious to how others view them or at the very least seem to be able to shrug it off easily.

Tene is also known for actively sneaking out at night to explore the grove and surrounding areas, often collecting stones or small objects they find and bringing them back to their stash. These are very important to them, and should they give one of these treasures to anyone it is a sign of trust and friendship. They are also strangely obsessed with drawing and documenting any creatures they stumble upon in a small journal, as well as any folk they find interesting.

The name Tenebrous was given to them by the Folk who found them outside the grove, as it appeared that they never had a name before this. Its unclear how much of their past life they recall, and they don't seem to understand when asked about it.
