P.S: You might actually have hope of your precious character being in the game due to a claim that 4 characters (Mewtwo, Chorus Men, Dixie Kong and Ridley) will be downloadable by linking both 3DS and Wii U versions together. Do I care about Ridley being playable? Nah. I get to kick his ass all the time now rather than having to do it to an AI stage boss on Pyrosphere. Honhonhonhon.

I was thinking the same thing after I had my scene when the full roster was finally revealed. I feel it probably won't happen, but we've still got no info on what happens when you connect to the Wii U, and the Wii U needs some desperate hyping if it wants to compete with its sibling. Not only that, but the roster, for some reason, feels...underwhelming; incomplete, I dare say.
It would also be a great way to transfer DLC content from one version to the other; because in all honesty sake, would you really wanna pay double for one DLC for both versions?

Just wanna say that since Smash Ultimate was announced, I felt it was Ridley's time to shine, so I was welcoming him with open arms. And, well... look what happened.

It's been confirmed from the 50 Smash facts Direct a few weeks ago that the 3DS can be used as an additional controller for the Wii U version by connecting it. As for Ridley, Sakurai himself deconfirmed him as a future fighter. This is from an interview he had with IGN.
''I definitely know that Ridley’s a much-anticipated name for fans, but if we made Ridley as a fighter, it wouldn’t be Ridley any longer...it’d have to be shrunk down, or its wings reduced in size, or be unable to fly around freely.
Providing accurate portrayals of characters is something I want to pay ample attention to...if I don’t stick to that thought, then we’d have to lower the quality or break the balance of the game. Something that goes way off spec could break the entire game.''
