Description
What am I, but a wilted rose?The one that once stood tall and proud,
And deeply flushed, aware completely
Of its vivid beauty as it held itself
Stubbornly stronger than the rest.
I'm the faded rose that catches your second glance
As you stroll casually by where it's displayed,
You wonder how long they'll keep its slumped figure
A distraction from the other beauties they placed beside it.
Or perhaps I'm not that wilted rose,
The one I see so faded and long gone;
Perhaps I am merely a smiling, sympathetic stranger
Who strolls by and casts my distant gaze
And separates myself from that tilted flower's bent and twisted stem.
