Xiao Long: Shadows is the third installment in the Turboverse Xiao Long series. It serves as a psychological aftermath to the chaotic events of Spider-Man Clone-Mania: Grimmified.
The Psychological Struggle
While Yang successfully defeated her inner Grimm persona leading her Confession to Blake, Shadows explores the lingering trauma of that transformation:
Recurring Nightmares: Yang is plagued by visions of her Grimm self, leading to a deep-seated fear that she isn't truly free from Salem's influence.
The Dark Possibilities
Within this story, it focuses heavily on the psychological "What If" scenarios that haunt Yang Xiao Long after her battle with her inner Grimm.
The Death of Blake: The darkest "What If" of all is the possibility that she could have killed Blake Belladonna, the person she worked so hard to protect and eventually confess her feelings to.
Failure of Power: What if her Werewolf powers hadn't been strong enough to suppress and defeat the Grimm infection growing inside her? If
The Family Massacre: Yang's nightmares suggest a timeline where she wasn't just a victim, but a perpetrator who killed her father (Taiyang), her uncle (Qrow), and her mother (Raven).
The Ultimate Betrayal: A particularly painful scenario involves Salem forcing Yang to kill Ruby rather than allowing her to remain free.
Aiden Cohen’s Choice: The scenarios also involve Aiden Cohen (The Blue Arachnid). Yang wonders if Aiden might have chosen to kill her using the Venom symbiote to end the threat she posed while in Grimm form.
The Fatal Wound: She fears a reality where Venom was too late to save Aiden from a fatal wound she herself inflicted while transformed, killing the clone completely.
Murder... A bigger burden... Yang's trauma stems from the realization that she was only one choice away from becoming a monster with no humanity left, forever a part of Salem’s Grimm army...
Travelling into the Dreamscape: Calling upon Shion Zaiden (An original character from RWBY: Ice Queendom) in assisting in these nightmares, Yang, Blake, and the Spider-Man Recolor Clone, The Blue Arachnid (Aiden Cohen) travel inside of Yang's mind, to the Dreamscape or Dream World.
The encounter: The while traveling deeper parts of Yang's mind, Aiden senses the presents of Grimmified Yang's intoxicating fierily aura, causing the trio to hide to avoid her.
Attempted confrontation: Grimmified Yang's corruption is entirely driven by deep-seated resentment over being abandoned by her loved ones. Something Yang wish to forget, because of her actions, causing greater guilt from dark possibilities, catching Grimmified Yang's attention.
The fight
Battle within the mind: With nowhere to run, the trio engage in a fight against this nightmarish manifestation of Yang's Grimm hybrid however, just like in the real world, Grimm Yang overpowers both Blake and Arachnid but here pyro powers, brute strength, aggression, and manipulating the Dreamscape environment.
A nightmare coming to life?: Blake groaned as her head was violently slammed into the wall, Grimm Yang's spike-riddled hand still clenched around her throat like a vice. Aiden was unconscious, the real Yang, nearly weaken by her Grimm self watched in horror as one of her nightmares involving Blake dying by her hands repeats right in front of her again but this time, its the real Blake instead. Not letting her girlfriend die for real, Yang begins to ran towards her and her Grimm half, activating her Werewolf powers in doing so.
The Blond Wolf Returns: Having to defeated her Grimm have the first time in wolf form, Werewolf Yang snarled at her Grimm half, not leading a horrific tragedy to happen again, the two clash once more.
