I started 2 weeks ago !
It seems like an easy to learn hard to master thing. The biggest problem I've had is getting props, environments and models, but I've just signed up for Daz premium which reduces the price of stuff.
There are tutorials in Daz to teach you the basics. The most time consuming part of the process is posing people and making expressions look realistic.

Speaking of crush, someone requested a high heel crush which I'll be working on soon, once I get an environment that works well with it.
The photorealism is a really awesome part of the whole thing. I'm terrible at drawing, so this allows me to make what I want to see. Lighting seems to be a make or break sort of deal, that's why the first renders I made looked quite dull. The 2 most recent ones, I may have gone a bit overboard on the exposure and saturation, but I'm still testing things out !
