Description Chapter 1: Easing Worries while Waiting

It was a cloudy noontime in the Unknown World. Overshadowing the world so no creature can ever see their shadow when they step their foot out of their brightly lit homes, but still see the light.

In some ways, this day is a day of happiness. But at the same time, it’s a day of gloom. No sun, no warmth. The world is blanketed by clouds like it was depressed.

To some people in this world, it’s not a happy day.

It has been a week after the incident. The attack from the toon demon—Bendy—to the shooting. No one knew who shot those three teenage girls or why this person would even give two shots to Sophia. Now they lay in the hospital, weak and frail from the bullets they were shot.

One of the witnesses was Bendy himself. Ever since he saw the three girls fall and hit the ground with blood seeping out their wounds, he felt afraid. Scared. Guilty. But the only person he was scared for was Sophia.

That teenage girl has no idea how much she was an influence on his life. She may be lazy, irritable, and lack of common sense, but even though she is, she was a real darling. Deep down her laziness and quiet appearance was a sweet soul. Sophia may think of herself as useless, but to him, she wasn’t. She was both the big and little sister he could ever ask for.

And seeing her now falling victim to gun violence. It broke his heart.

Now he sits in the hospital with his girlfriend, Darla the demon. His head was low, his hands curled into fists on his lap. Darla was on his left, waiting patiently for the nurse to say that they can come in.

As Bendy sat tight, a memory sparked in his mind. The memory when Sophia got shot. Her face, eyes widened with fear like he was cut in half and the blood trickling down her mouth. Then she slowly fell onto the concrete like a wooden board. The bullets that sliced through her body made her shirt get mixed with dark red and purple, blending in like it was on a canvas.

Bendy shut his eyes tightly as tears filled his eyes and his fists tightened. Watching as his sister figure slowly fall incapacitated to the bullets that entered her body. It made him scared to lose her! She was only sixteen, for crying out loud! Still too young to leave this world!

Darla looked at Bendy and placed a hand on his shoulder as he whimpered.

“Bendy?” she asked.

“Why?” Bendy asked in a quiet voice. “Why her? Why them?”

“Huh?”

“Why them? They didn’t do anything! They were just being so nice and kind! They were like the best friends I would wish for! Sophia is like a sister to me! Why? Why did that person have to shoot them? When they didn’t do anything?”

“I don’t know, sweetheart,” Darla replied as she brought her boyfriend into a hug. “I don’t know...”

Bendy just sobbed softly as he hugged his darling back. Darla just held him and rubbed his back as he vents out his emotions. After the incident, he broke down on the night of it and afterwards, he mostly bottled his emotions. He broke down occasionally. He just got tortured from the church Melissa Norman was in and now he has to suffer watching his best human friends get struck with ammo. That was quite a night and it was no surprise he’d be psychologically injured.

Darla couldn’t imagine how scared he must’ve been. How guilty he felt when he almost killed the girl that helped Henry go through that studio and the people of the city. That’s a lot of emotions for him.

Minutes went by and the nurse told them that they can come in. Bendy and Darla went into the room and saw Sophia lying in the hospital bed, looking so peaceful but also so weak, almost like she’s dead.

The heart monitor beeped, giving Bendy a sense of relief. Her heart’s still beating, so it’s a good sign. But at the same time, he knew that soon, poor little Sophia will soon hold hands with death and her spirit leaves her physical body. He doesn’t want that. No one would.

He carefully climbed the bed and looked at the young face of his sister figure. The oxygen mask covering her nose and mouth. Seeing her in such state broke his heart. It made him feel like it was his fault for bringing this on her.

“I’m sorry..,” he whispered.

Tears slipped out of his eyes and fell onto the skin of her arms.

He wiped his eyes with the back of his hand before he gently went and rubbed her cheek. Normally, the wolf ears and tail would pop out when Sophia feels a cheek rub, but she was unconscious at the moment.

After that, Bendy carefully went and nuzzled her gently, nervous that a hug can cause complications. Then he planted a gentle, brotherly kiss on her cheek.

Darla felt sad that Bendy had to suffer watching himself almost kill Sophia and then watching her get shot. After Sophia came into their lives, she and Bendy grew a strong bond to the point they call each other siblings. They’re so close, their bond is strong. Too strong for anything that wishes to break them down.

“Sophia..,” Bendy said, quietly. “I’m sorry... I’m so sorry...”

 Sophia just remained motionless.

He nuzzled her again, planting another kiss on her cheek before he slowly went down from the bed and onto the ground. Darla can see the depressing look in his eyes and placed her hands on his shoulders.

“She’ll get better,” she said. “I know it.”

“But what if she...?” Bendy asked. “What if she dies?”

“We just gotta keep hoping,” Darla replied. “I can’t bear to see my boyfriend lose his sister from a criminal. She’s too young to leave this world.”

Hearing that made Bendy smile a bit.

“Thanks, sweetheart,” he said.

“Anytime, my darling.”

Darla quickly kissed his lips before she and Bendy walked out. Bendy gave Sophia one last look before he left with his girlfriend.

As they walked through the hallway, they passed the room where Evelyn is and then they passed Alexis’s. Bendy saw that their family was there and it gave him a bit of content to see them making sure their child survives.

And he hopes Sophia survives as well, no matter what.
—————
It’s been minutes and the two demons were back in ToonTown, in Bendy’s house. Bendy sat on the couch in the living room and Darla looked around for any food to cook for lunch in the kitchen. Thankfully, she found some bacon in the fridge.

“Want some bacon soup, honey?” she asked.

“Sure..,” Bendy replied in a low tone.

Bendy heard Darla take the bacon out and then the pots and pans. As she did, he slowly began to fall into a world of memories. There, he began remembering his times with Sophia. A platonic bond that he thinks is stronger than the others. Then the memory of his attack and seeing Sophia when she snapped him out of it. Her sweet face and the face she made when the sound of the gunshot struck the air.

He sighed and closed his eyes in sadness. He gets thoughts that Sophia is going to die, knowing how weak she is when she’s not fighting. The little pacifist. He is scared that he hoped for nothing but at the same time, he thinks it’ll be enough to heal Sophia.

Minutes passed and the smell of bacon soup filled the air. He looked up from it. He likes the smell of bacon soup and it made him hungry.

“Lunchtime, sweetie!”

Bendy got up and went to the dining room, sitting in a chair. Then he turned his head to see Darla bringing in a bowl of bacon soup to him and placing it in front of him.

“One for you,” she said before walking back to the kitchen to get her own. Bendy picked up the spoon and scooped up a bit of the soup. He blew on it to cool it down a bit and then he sipped it in. He smiled at the taste. It was good. Good enough to blow away some of the blues.

“And one for me.”

Then she returned with her own bowl in her hands. She sat beside Bendy and began eating her bacon soup. Bendy just continued to eat slowly.

“How’s the soup, Bendy?” Darla asked.

“It’s good,” Bendy replied.

“Thank you!”

Darla was going to sip some soup, but then her eyes was set on Bendy’s slow eating. Normally, Bendy eats pretty quick, but it was slow. She also saw the lackluster eyes.

“Bendy?” Darla asked.

“Huh?”

Bendy looked at Darla.

“Yes?”

“Are you okay?”

“I’m fine.”

Darla didn’t really take it. She knew Bendy was expressing worry and a bit of depression.

“You’re worried about Sophia, are you?” she asked.

Bendy paused eating before he nodded slowly.

Darla put down her spoon and placed her hand on his. Bendy looked at her when she did that. The adorable cartoon demon just gave him a smile.

“I know,” she said, “but like I said, keep hoping. Keep it up and maybe she’ll heal quick! I know she’s gonna make it. Thankfully it wasn’t in the vital areas, so she should be okay.”

“I know,” Bendy replied, “but I’m still worried she’ll—“

“Keep hoping.”

Bendy stopped. He knew that Darla would stop him from worrying too much, but she did have a point. Keep thinking she’ll die, then it might happen, but luckily, Sophia wasn’t hit at the heart, head, or neck. So she should survive. Hopefully.

“Okay.”

Darla smiled and picked up her spoon. She scooped up her soup and held it towards Bendy. Bendy was confused for a bit, but then he realized what she was doing and scooped his own and held it to Darla.

Darla smiled and altogether, they ate each other’s soups. Then they giggled and nuzzled each other.

“You make good soup, sweetheart,” Bendy said.

“Thanks, darling,” Darla replied.

Somewhere, in ToonTown, a couple of cups were in a park. Cuphead and Ms. Chalice were jogging around, passing the green that surrounded them both and toons who are passing by like they‘re invisible.

Cuphead wanted to walk in the park because after he heard about the incident, he felt anxious for Sophia’s recovery. Thankfully, his girlfriend and brother was there to comfort him that day he learned about it. But still, his worries still came back. So he decided to go and exercise with his girlfriend for a bit.

Cuphead and Ms. Chalice then went to the field and decided to stop there. Cuphead fell onto the grass on his bottom and instantly laid flat on the grass, panting.

He stared at the sky. It was light gray like the sky of a 1920s cartoon. There’s not a single hint of blue or a hint of the sun’s light breaking through this grayness. The air was cool and the smell of grass filled Cuphead’s nose.

This moment was interrupted when Ms. Chalice crawled over him. Even though she covered his view, looking at her feels like the sun has shined upon him.

“You okay, hon?” she asked.

Cuphead nodded and sat up. Ms. Chalice slowly got off and sat beside him. They stared at the city buildings of ToonTown, the grayness lighting up the buildings that move and the park around it, but it was still dull from the lack of sunlight.

Ms. Chalice leaned onto his shoulder. The view is as beautiful as a castle of a beautiful princess. She felt like it was more dazzling when she’s here with her darling.

“Beautiful,” she said. “Isn’t it.”

“Yeah,” Cuphead replied in a quiet tone.

Ms. Chalice looked at Cuphead, who lacked an enthusiastic look on his face. She felt like he was thinking about the incident again.

“Are you thinking about her again?” she asked.

Cuphead nodded. “Yes.”

Arms went around his waist and he felt himself get pulled into a hug. He looked down and saw Ms. Chalice hugging him.

“You just gotta hope and pray big,” she said. “Sophia got hit in the spots that are not as vital, so she would survive.”

“I know, but she might—!”

“Die? I know. But you just gotta hope that the doctors know what they’re doing, which I know for certain. Sophia got hit, but from what I’ve seen, she may be weak, but she is strong deep down.”

Ms. Chalice then heard a sigh escape Cuphead’s lips. She saw the sad look in his eyes again. She understood why. Sophia also formed a sibling bond with the cupbros. Almost or maybe as close as Bendy’s bond. To ease the negative emotions more, she decided to gently boop his nose.

“Sweetie,” she said. “Don’t get too worried. You know your sister can fight through this. Don’t say your worries again because I know it. I know how close you and Mugman are to her and I know you’re worried, but if you worry too much, it might cause a problem. It could hurt you, you know.”

Cuphead looked at his girl and saw the serious look in her eyes. He smiled, knowing she might never stop to help him. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

“There you go,” Ms. Chalice said.

Cuphead continued this for a few minutes before he officially calmed down. His heart wasn’t beating as fast and he felt more relaxed like he was on a fluffy cloud.

“Thanks, Chal,” he said.

“You’re welcome, Cups,” Ms. Chalice replied and kissed his cheek.

Cuphead chuckled before he looked out onto the city. “I hope Sophia is doing well.”

“Me too.”
—————
Somewhere, in the farthest area of the city, a girl—a real human girl—was standing on a roof of a building. She stared down at the ground, staring with great disgust at the toons. Toon demons were walking around with smiles. Some toons who are not demons are even talking to them.

Looking at them, she felt extremely disgusted like they were trash. Seeing them made her feel like her eyes were burning. Seeing all these demons in the toon world? That is disgusting...

She snorted before she opened a portal and walked in before it closed behind her, making her vanish.
