I am always in doubt when rendering backgrounds like this because it takes so long and in the end people will just give you the 4 letters for it.

Happened to me before. In the end we can sometimes drastically drop the rendering time by turning off some rendering features that don't really add much to the pic. Or reducing some params can also do the trick, like (in Poser) number of pixel samples and number of raytrace bounces. ^^
