Description
The Barguest is a kind of Boggy or Boggy-Beast and is related to the Padfoot. Like the Padfoot it appears as a vicious Goblinoid Dog or Canine-like beast. But unlike the Padfoot, it has a Goblin form. In both form it is capable of viciously savaging its prey, usually humanoids and other fey. This evil beast is like the Werewolf amongst the more normal Goblin kind and is feared by Fey and humanoid alike.In both forms it has horns, sharp teeth and claws and fiery eyes. And although more wolfish and hairy in its Canine form, it also has much bestial hair in its Goblin form. It has the typical batty ears in either form as well and is about the size of a Goblin as well.

only for now. I do the creatures in my Monster Manual in groups. I am done with Undead and dragon-kind for now and am almost donw with Boggies. After this i will move on to the next creature type.

Block blood sounds familiar, i think that is a modern Copywrite creature, a specifice orc type. I am doing creatures that are in the public domain that no one in our modern era made up (for at least 200-300 years)like Elves, Orcs, Goblins, Pixies, etc...or my own creations, like Maugs, Nylpids, Sky nymphs and so on. I am staying away from toehr peoples creations that are within the copywtite laws, like Hobbits, which are Tolkiens haflings, Drow Elves, which are Ed Greenwoods creation, although he didn't creat Dark elves. I think Black Orcs are Warhammer orcs, or the Black Blooded orcs and Goblin from Tolkien's world, so i will not draw them, as they are not in the public domain or created by me. And I never heard of Black goblins, maybe Wahammer as well, I don't know.
As far as the Boggys go I have Spriggan and Redcap left and that's it, at least for now. And i will move on to either Magical and non-magical beasts (Griffons, Roc, Manticore, etc...), Monstous Humanoids (Centaurs, Orcs, Harpy, etc...) or Hobbs (Dwarves, Brownies, Leprachauns, etc...). Whichever i ink and marker faster. i have more categories than this in the works and less finished, Like Faun/Callicantzari/Nymphs (Satyr, Dryand, Glaitig, etc...), Smalle Fey (Pixies, Ellylon, Quicklings, etc...), Giants (Jotun, Formori, Trolls, etc...), and finally Elemental/morhic (Slimes, elementals, Living plants, etc...). So this will take a long time, but give me something to do.

also The Encyclopedia of Fairies by Kathrine Briggs is a well accepted and even better source [link]
And The dictionary of Engels and Demons by Gustave Dore has no mention of Trolls, Goblins or Orcs unfortunately. [link]
The Element Encyclopedia also does not describe anything akin to demons, and instead support origins of the Unseelie Court and scandinavian giants.

Abnd finally a Tolkien Bestiary Sums up the origins of orcs fairly nicely, although orcs existed before tolien were kind of vague.

Are you sure you're not going by Modern Japanese misinterpretations of western mythology? This happens a lot as Japan and its manga and anime have slaughtered a lot of western fantasy. I havent read anywhere in any propper sources of demonic origins.

I thinhk they used to be elves, accordiing to Tolkien fantasy, which is slowly being accepted as real myth. Howeer i am going with the Giant or Ogre like origins from the 1600s. I don't think I am going with the elves, i just pointed it out to dipserse the demon myth by pop-culture fantasy.
Check out Wkipedia under "origins" it talks about the oldest versions orc very nicely there.
Again, I won't be using any pop-cultural fantasy or at least I will look to the country of origins when researching a creature. Sorry about that.

Tolien, although in recent history, is a Brilliant person as far as his contribution to fantasy. It is only an option. Again, I only stated it to disperse any demonic heritage myths. sorry if i cam of a bit "alarmed" but when you said I didn't research my sources I was a bit thown aback. I think in reality I never bothered to research Anime/Manga sub-culure sources, and that's fine as they are not credible enough mythology, especially concerning western or wuropean mythology. so, no need to "shut any mouths"

Nope, that seems like very specific lore somewhere. My sources say that Goblins are fey, part of the Unseelie court. Modern Pop-culture fanasy might have changed this, but I don't fallow modern pop-culture fantasy, it isn't true mythology. Goblin is French in origin and Trolls are Scandinavian in origin. Trolls are just another type of Gian or Jotun. Orcs used to be elves. All three of these races have no origins from demons or hell. i'm sorry
As such I'm basing my mythology off of "propper mythology, as much as I can, yet at the same time balance them in a cohesive world for the sake of gaming. So some minor things may have to change.

lol, I'm not sure it can make other Barguest by biting goblins, that would be funny though. a were-wolf Goblin. I think it's its own speices of boggy. They don't tell much about it in the Enclopedia unfortunately.

though in some fantasy mythos, like in elderscrolls, many races can be infected by werewolfism.......which is odd to me. the orcs ane elves and humans makes sense in elderscrolls, maybe the khajit, but then were have those lizards guys, who are no mammal, as a wolf is.

I don't think Barguest are reallt werewolves though. They are just another one of the bed fey from the Unseelie court, i guess, a mean vicious creature.
