Description
An old railroad crane sits on a siding with some depressed center flatcars in New Castle, PA. Judging by her condition and lack of a main cable and hook, she hasn't seen any action in quite some time.Related content

It's a shame so much time and effort went into making her now look at her.

Shame to see, sadly a lot of equipment finds itself sitting on a siding until it rots or rusts. Even at museums thanks to lack of proper funding (and sometimes lack of proper management).
My area once had several of these cranes, primarily steam powered, all have seen the torch.

Pity...but it's good news for the railroad I guess...that they don't have any need to use it...then again, most railroads just call up contractors whenever they put cars on the ground...

True. I see R.J. Corman around here quite a bit.

Neat! It's been almost 5 years since I have been by here, and I just got the bug to revisit here. I am glad I did.

Yeah, It has been so long since I was even near that area. Maybe about 3 years now I haven't been to PA.

Sad. This crane reminds me of the classic Tyco HO scale crane of my childhood. She should be sent to a museum for rebuild and display/use rather than being left to rot.

I had the same crane when I was a kid to. It came in the Virginian set with the ALCO C430. That was the set that started it all.
