"An Endoparasitoid species of organism encountered by the crew of the USCSS Covenant. While it shares some characteristics with the organism Xenomorph XX121, most notably it's process of gestating inside a living host organism and it's elongated skull, it it otherwise quite different".Yes, I saw Alien: Covenant, and while I won't throw out any spoilers, I WILL say I thoroughly enjoyed it! A delightfully disturbing movie.
The "Alien" franchise is owned by Scott Ridley.

Thanks! It was pretty good! The first Alien movie will always be tops for me, but I like that both Covenant and Prometheus expanded on the universe and gave us some new creatures.

I hope I can see it, but I'm not so sure how good it's going to be. The Alien franchise is a bit comparable to the Jurassic one: the first movie is original and a classic, the sequel is good, but all the rest is just the same thing again and again with a not so good plot. I'll probably have fun watching it though

I personally enjoyed it; but when it comes to movies of franchises I like, I'm not very critical and easily entertained, so I wouldn't know how much weight my opinion would hold. I thought it was very creepy/disturbing and interesting but it was more similar to Prometheus than to the original Alien. I like it more for the world-building aspect I suppose.

That's a good thing depending on the way you look at it. I for example would've liked watching Jurassic World and simply being able to enjoy it because it's basically the only franchise I'm really into, but it just does't hold up to how the franchise started as two movies with higher quality levels. But I can't do that so I'm a bit jealous of people who can.
If it's comparable to Prometheus, but with xenomorphs instead of pre-xenomorph stuff, I'm probably going to be able to at least enjoy it. Let's just hope there aren't going to be any obvious, really dumb decisions made by expert scientists.
That reminds me: have you heard about that other alien-thingy movie called "Life"?

Jurassic World was actually one of the few moments where I realized "Wow. This just doesn't live up to the others". Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Jurassic World a lot, but for someone who was hoping for a JP4 ever since JP3, and checking the internet CONSTANTLY for updates about such a project, I felt undermined with JW. It certainly wasn't bad at all, but I dunno....it just didn't seem like the sequel I was expecting. It sort of felt like a stand alone movie; it had little reference to the previous films, and seemed more or less like a larger scale remake of the original. I also didn't like how "humanized" the animals acted in the movie; making the Indominus seem evil, or having Blue and Rexy "team up" on the Indominus during the fight. Also I can't help but feel that even the CGI animals looked kinda shoddy even compared to the older movies, and I didn't care much for some of their designs. Scientific accuracy aside, the Pteranodons in particular were really disappointing.
Lol, sorry, now I'm just rambling about my thoughts on Jurassic World. As for Covenant, if you're going to see it, I would suggest going in with a "Prometheus Mindset", rather than an "Alien" one.
I have heard of "Life". Never saw it myself (I guess I was too hyped up for Covenant), but it just sounds to similar in plot to other alien movies like....well...."Alien" or "Apollo 18". Doesn't really catch my interest, but I wouldn't be opposed to watching it either.

Jurassic World with all of its hype really was a dissapointment. Ignoring the inaccuracies (at least they made up an excuse) it just stays a bad movie.
I would've expected something like the first movie with all of its in depth discussions and interestingly written characters because they were milking on nostalgia anyway, but it really was a plot written by a thirdteen year old kid.
The Indominus' mindset was quite okay actually (ignoring that it just didn't die from everything fatal it ended up in) untill the whole hunting for sport line came along. I think that if they would've switched from the humans' perspective to the animal's (it's a traumatised, hyper intelligent being after all) the movie could've done something good and original.
I don't really care for the CGI, it was good enough. I find the CGI glorification of the first JP a bit overrated anyway. If the animal isn't shown in a rainy night the CGI is only okay, good of course, especially for the 90's, but not as mind blowing as people often say imo.

They're also one of the biggest reasons why I find the consistency argument for the outdated models total crap.
Eh, I would've expected something like that. The trailer had this Prometheus vibe already, I thought. The first Alien movie is just something that can't be done again. Sadly.
Yeah, the idea isn't that original. I'm just curious about the creature itself and what it's going to do throughout the movie.

I'm mixed on Alien: Covenant. The issue with Covenant is that half the time all it is is an obvious attempt to pander to fans whose only complaint about Prometheus was that it didn't have Xenomorphs. Basically, whose only complaint is they didn't get the same damn thing they've seen over and over already. On a critical level, Prometheus isn't all that great, but it is superior to Covenant in terms of atmosphere, visuals, soundtrack, unified themes, pacing, and even characters, which is really saying something because Prometheus isn't that great either.
Covenant has plenty of strengths, such as David and Walter and the monster scenes, plus a few nice twists and some generally great visuals here and there, but other areas of the film are just too lackluster or messy. I can't even remember any of the damn characters in this movie besides the androids and Daniels. Alien movies usually have characters you can remember, even Prometheus. All Covenant has are a bunch of morons who die faster than I can keep track of.
Which reminds me, people complain about the characters in Prometheus being morons, and to an extent that is true, but oh my God the characters in Covenant are even bigger idiots than they are. Almost every death scene in this movie was the result of horrible decision-making which no human being could fathom. No wonder David looks down on us! If he were more human he'd probably be laughing to himself about how easily he convinced a guy who knew he was evil to look into a freaky alien egg thingy!
I don't see how anyone can call Covenant a great movie critically unless they're just shallow. I have to be honest about that, because the praise the movie gets seems to hinge purely on it featuring Xenomorphs.

I definitely agree that David, Walter and Daniels are the only memorable characters. The others are all kinda moronic and die pretty quickly. I can't say exactly why I enjoy the movie; but I just like the creep-factor I guess, and it helps that I'm already a fan of the Alien franchise. I've never been a good critic in any sense and I'm easily entertained by my favorite series. Even if the movie didn't have Xenomorphs though, I still think I would have enjoyed it. I can agree that they felt a little shoehorned in. I'm to understand this and Prometheus are supposed to delve upon the origins of the Xenomorphs, but they rarely touched upon it in either. All that can be inferred is that they're implied to have been created as bio-weapons by the Engineers using the black liquid, but that's about it.

Very true, another issue with Covenant is that lack of answers, and you can tell that this movie is very scant on them because they're trying to milk it with sequels. Not that I can complain, since more Alien movies sounds fun, but still.
I think I should mention that I don't hate Covenant. In fact, I greatly enjoyed it as well.

It's a variation thing. Some of the Neomorphs had larger spines, others didn't; like the one that was eating Rosenthal. Some of the other, younger individuals that the group encountered earlier on in the field had them. Also, the NECA figures have them.

There were only two, one of them killed by the religious dude and the other shot by one of the members who fled never to be seen again. The "backburster" was the one with quill-like structures. And neca's neomorph figs aren't really screen accurate imo.

Yeah I was pretty confused too, but like you said, it seems like is different for each neomorph. One had no spines and one had spines, maybe if there was another one it could have had larger spines. Who knows, it might depend on which part of the body it gestates in.

Hmm....I'd have to probably give an 8/10 on the gore factor. I mean, it's not a blood bath of a movie, but anytime there IS gore, it's pretty brutal.

These guy were pretty terrifying in the film. Probably the scariest things about them is how they look so much more human than Xenomorphs do, especially the way they stand completely upright just before they kill someone.

It's definitely one of the creepiest qualities about the movie (alongside David and his experiments), and it's nice to see such an expansion in the Alien franchise. Also, gotta love the brutality of the Neomorphs.

Ah, nicely done. I like the fringes on the sides of his head. Sometimes it's hard to find a story in concepts, and the need to physically design your thoughts can outweigh that. But that's totally fine; sometimes you need to draw just for the sake of drawing.

that's more or less how i made this from boredom. i do have a idea of his story that he is the master of the absurd and strange. his arms are not attached to his body and is extremely unpredictable and must not be trusted with anything.
