Vesper Contest — Description
I love love love Pull Down Heaven by so when I saw that she was hosting a contest I just had to enter!

In the spirit of her comics, and art, I tinted the paper with red wine

Anyway, onto the description:

Name: Kai
Age: 6
Species: Tiger
Program: Species Recoloration Program

The Species Recoloration Program was one of Vesper's smaller programs. As cities replaced nature, humanity grew more and more eager for artificial nature; however what was produced did not always mimic the natural order of things.
One man decided to take advantage of this growing hunger for artificial nature and opened a facility at Vesper. The Recoloration Program focused on producing more 'brilliantly' colored animals and plants for public attractions. When the Endangered Species program got wind that the Recoloration Program was experimenting on tigers, a feud between the heads of both of the programs broke out. Eventually it was decided that the Recoloration Program had gone too far with the use of Endangered species in their Program, and the Recoloration Program was shut down.
The animals that were originally part of the Recoloration Program were shunned by a majority of the other creatures at Vesper because of their unnatural coloration. They were seen as taboo and poor mates. Thus, only Recolored animals were allowed to breed with Recolored animals.
This rule was especially strict among the tigers who were a proud species and did not wish to taint their species by breeding with these unnatural beings.
As the Brotherhood Cabal grew and established themselves, they took it upon themselves to punish any who mated with a Recolored animal; however, there were breaches in this code, and eventually the ultimate taboo was broken. A rouge tiger mated with a Recolored tiger, and thus Kai was born.
When word of the baby reached the Brotherhood a Seneschal was sent to kill the entire family.
Kai watched as her mother and father were brutally murdered; however the Seneschal could not bring himself to kill the young tiger cub. He left her to fend for herself, only showing mercy because of her young age.
Kai grew up bitter and resentful. Because of her mixed genes, she could often pass as a 'pure' tiger and not a Recolored tiger. As she began to understand the reason for her family's demise, she made it her goal to infiltrate the Brotherhood Cabal and kill the Seneschal who murdered her family.
Kai slowly gained the trust of the Brotherhood and was admitted among their ranks as a Seneschal herself. Through careful inquiry (of course never giving away her identity) she had learned that the Seneschal responsible for her parents deaths had long since passed away.
This left Kai with a feeling of emptiness and loss of purpose. The reason for her hard work all these years had died. In the end, he had met death but not at her teeth and claws.
Furthermore Kai actually had begun to feel a since of belonging among the tigers in the Brotherhood, the same organization responsible for the death of her family.

Kai is now lost. Should she turn her anger to forgiveness and live among the Brotherhood? Or should she turn her back on the Brotherhood and continue to take down the organization?
