-Before Hatching:

Lighttaker, a male NightWing in his early ages of adulthood, was a cook held in high regards by Queen Dart Frog for his delicious recipes of hickory smoked insects and woodland deer meat sweetened with mango juice plus much more, and was often there whenever the Queen held meetings or whenever she declared a feast to provide food alongside the other cooks.

Minerva was a female RainWing/NightWing hybrid, colored like an unsaturated sunrise with gray eyes that seemed to stare right through you. She was a member of Queen Dart Frog's Royal Guard and on the brink of becoming a general due to her exceptional skills.

The two met when Dart Frog requested a meeting with Queen Tortoise to discuss queenly things, and to make the MudWing Queen feel welcome she requested a feast provided by her best chefs. Lighttaker was requested to stay and answer any questions about his amazing food. He was standing off to the side when Minerva approached him, she began asking him questions and her eyes compelled him to give straight answers. After almost an hour of question asking and answering, Minerva seemed satisfied and walked off with nothing but a nod, leaving Lighttaker confused and longing to talk to her once again.

After that, when she was off duty, Minerva would often visit Lighttaker in the kitchen, watching him cook, asking more questions about not only the food but about him as well, and taking any samples he offered. This escalated, and soon Lighttaker was teaching Minerva how to cook, and even revealed his recipes to her, which she copied almost perfectly. As time went on, the two became closer to one another, often inviting each other to their huts within the kingdom for dinner with their families or to just visit no learn more about each other.

After almost two years of being together, Lighttaker finally gathered the courage to ask Minerva to be his mate. But before he could pop the question, Minerva beat him to it and asked him first. After jokingly asking her as well, they both said yes and their marriage was three months later.

Two years pass, and Minerva becomes pregnant with their first clutch, but the timing was off, as Minerva was about to become the leading general and because of her pregnancy, she was denied the position. Minerva was surprisingly fine with this, happy to stay a normal member of the Royal Guard and raise her family. Minerva's first clutch was a single egg, but it didn't matter to her because RainWings were known to have one egg at a time and it was common for NightWings as well. A year passed and the egg hatched into a healthy female NightWing (with some RainWing features) that Minerva and Lighttaker named Skyfall.

-Early Childhood (1-3 years old)

Skyfall was hatched within the RainWing/NightWing nursery and was raised by both their parents as well as the caretakers. While there, they became close friends with Quetzal, a male RainWing, and Howler Monkey, a male NightWing-RainWing. When they reached a year old, they were taken out of the nursery to be raised full time by their parents. They kept in touch with Quetzal and Howler Monkey and the trio spent almost every day with each other. Skyfall had other friends but they hung out with the two boys the most (this worried their parents but not enough to force Sky to stop hanging out with them).

When Skyfall was two, Minerva became pregnant once again. Skyfall wasn't nervous at all, they were actually excited to be an older sibling! When they turned three, the egg hatched into what seemed like the perfect blend of a NightWing and a RainWing, with more NightWing features than RainWing features but a mix like Skyfall none the less. Minerva and Lighttaker, with the help of Sky, Howl, and Quetzal (who came to see the hatching as well), they named her Talebend.

-Adolescence (4-6 years old):

A few months after Sky turned four, a male MudWing named Leech and his half RainWing daughter named Mandarin arrived in the rainforest, looking for Mandarin's mother. Leech explained that Mandarin's mother arrived during the MudWing mating ritual, courted him, left before he could catch her name, arrived a year later with a freshly hatched Mandarin, left her there with Leech, and then swiftly left once again with no name. Leech raised Mandarin for two years before he realized that even though she was half MudWing, his sibs never really accepted her and she could never find a sib group of her own, so he decided to take her to the rainforest to find her mother. After describing what he remembers of Mandarin's mother, one could remember or recall ever seeing the RainWing that Leech had described, leaving him rather upset. Leech asked if he and Mandarin could live in the Rainforest so that she can be raised by both him and the other RainWings, and Queen Dart Frog happily allowed it, and the two were happily welcomed with open arms. Pretty soon, Skyfall managed to introduce themselves, Howler Monkey, Quetzal, and Talebend to Mandarim and they all hit it off instantly and quickly became good friends.

At age six, Skyfall began to feel differently about themselves. They felt as if they weren't meant to be the way they were, and became confused and upset about it, not being able to pinpoint exactly how they felt but knowing that they just didn't feel comfortable being "a her" anymore. Their friends and family noticed this too, and began to worry about them, also not knowing what was going on. It took a few months, but Skyfall was finally able to put into words how they felt. They were scared of rejection, they were scared their family and their friends would no longer love them and maybe even disown them. This mindset put them into a depressed state, and they've been spending more and more time alone than with the ones they love, separating themselves from everyone who cares about them in fear that they'll lose them simply because they believed that they were a male, not a female. They also began to berate themselves over every little thing that they do, every tiny mistake they made, bringing themselves even farther down. This worried everyone they knew, but no one could ever get Sky to tell them what was wrong, not even Mandarin. However, this changed after Skyfall's eight hatch-day.

-Adulthood (7-present time):

A few months after Skyfall turned eight, Mandarin managed to pull Skyfall aside and talk to them. After a few tries to get them to talk, Skyfall finally broke down into tears, hugging Mandarin close and telling her everything. They told her they no longer felt the same, they wanted to change, they wanted to tell everyone but they were scared of being rejected, of being outcasted, of not being loved.

Mandarin explained to Skyfall that no one cared if they no longer wanted to be female, all they cared about was that Skyfall was happy and healthy and with them. Mandarin brought Skyfall home, and everyone was relieved and delighted to see them. With urging from Mandarin, Skyfall finally told their parents and their friends about their transitioning, and though it took them awhile to adjust, they accepted Skyfall, just like Mandarin said they would.

The following years were not as eventful.

Skyfall and Mandarin developed crushes on one another but both decided not to say anything yet.

Quetzal and Talebend started a relationship and Tale started studying to become a writer while Quetzal became a flight instructor. Howl started training to become a soldier and Mandarin became a dragonet caretaker.

Skyfall became enthralled with music at nine years old and took a few music classes before becoming self taught. They are now considered the best musician in the kingdom, next to their past tutors that is.

When they turned ten, they started dreaming of becoming a teacher (a music teacher to be more precise) and began to take teaching classes.

At eleven, Skyfall nervously asked their friends and family to start using they/them pronouns around them, which they happily started doing with few questions.

At thirteen, Skyfall passed their teaching classes with flying colors and not soon after graduating sent an application to become a music teacher at Jade Mountain Academy. Their first request was denied. At fourteen, they tried again. Denied. Skyfall began to feel downtrodden at this, but refused to give up.

With extra encouragement from their friends, Skyfall sent one more application to Jade Mountain when they turned fifteen, and to their amazement the school finally accepted.

Skyfall left for Jade Mountain the following day, excited for whatever adventures and new friends await.
